Jessie loved, respected and admired everything about Luke. (His calloused hands, that provided for their family. His integrity, that everyone trusted. His brilliant mind, that seemed to be able to solve any situation and provide dreams for their future. But mostly his heart, so soft and caring that she felt she melted into, with every thought of Luke.)
Although Luke sometimes felt like he fell a little short. He wanted to be able to give Jessie everything. The things that you hear make girls fall in love. Luke’s southern drawl and clumsiness with words never seemed to sound like the cool guys in the movies.
Although a music lover, he couldn’t carry a tune. And writing always seemed foreign to him. Until one night, while sleeping. Holding Jessie tight. A dream fell upon him. So, vivid he sit straight up in bed, remembering every word from that dream.
Knowing he would not remember in the morning he quietly got up. Turned a small lamp on. And this is what he wrote for his precious Jessie to read when she would wake up. “I’m writing this letter to my wife to show our love so bright. For you see this letter is being written with a touch of light. But our love can be seen in the dark of night.”
