Planning to head to Pattaya in Nov to meet with ex-WL.... and staying at The GEMS Mining (they have nice pool villas)

Anyone know what is a safe way to travel between hotel and drinking places (like walking street)? I heard that taking a taxi has high risk of getting ripped off.
