Hotel Holiday is pretty near to surrounding areas like Famosa Hotel, Queen 8966, Dynasty and Nagoya Hill complex. Walking distance to those places. I stayed there couple of times. Old hotel but quiet spacious with bath tub. It charges between 325K RP ~ 350K RP /day. Breakfast is so so only and send to yr room (free). U need to call before 9-10 am .

Also started going solo with help of map from bro nono in sept.
So far stay in formosa, pacific and panorama.
Most of the time will walk to the house been to goldbird, memory, new berlian, new berry, i dah permata 2 , mm2 indan permata, dynasty, queen.

Really feel for your friend who lost so much money... I've been lucky to not kena this type throughout the times that I cheong in Batam. Only one I kena in HCMC where I went for a "Honda girl" (FL on bike). Fuck halfway, door banging saying got police... ha ha... that was in 2000 when I was there for work.

Since then, I've been lucky with my experiences overseas. Had my fair share of bad fl, but is more of non performer rather than cheater or stealer.

Yes I feel for him too & first thing we check was the Rupiah . Never occurred to us to check the SIN dollars too. Also found out SD card missing from Camera when we tried to take pictures.
BTW, I experienced similar incident in KL except it was a real raid. Was at a mess doing my business with a Burmese FL then suddenly air con etc stopped . Thought it was black out but OKT said raid & told us to keep very quiet. I was with a few brothers & it was the longest 3 hours of our lives waiting in the living room for the all clear before we could leave. It was quite funny too as the Malaysian men in black were shining their flash lights in .
I'm generally careful to put away my valuables if I bring an FL to my hotel room but did not occur to remind the group as there were no newbies .

Agreed. In most cases they will fend you off with all sorts of promises which is mere lip service . Unfortunately my local friend is a Jakarta person & has no real clout in Batam. Just live & learn . Last month just reach batam for the first time, going with my buddy (just 2 of us). Check in at Swiss Inn hotel, a/c not working, room too small, gave 2 star out of 5 for this hotel.
