Ya, there R professionals offering tis kind of expertise but one mus tak note tis 2 R nt much diff. than "verbal" agreement as if one bring tis up 2 court, foreigners sure lose out 1(, scully still need 2 pay a fine hor?) So one mus be sure 2 spend time finding trust-worthy local "tau pei gong(s)" & really solid legal expert.

Best is buy a 30 yr leasehold 2 hav a peace of mind. Maybe, w/ option 2 autostart another 30 yr on expiry (Thai hav, nt sure abt Indon). I wld recommend tat as the Indon gt so much land & poor governing 2 maximize their potential, so nt likely 2 exp. the kind of great properties gain, lik in Sg, Hong Kong or the USA, ... + as newyorker88 hav mentioned, the unstability of rupian. The economy here in batam is pretty bad, compared to few years ago, and there are much less tourist and people compared to last year.

Look at teh SEZ( special economic zone), talk so much, up to now, nothing.
The problem is that there is no consenses on how it is to be done. To implement thru will mean a loss of extra income for many at the top.

So they rather let it be like that than to risk.

While the common people at the bottom have no choice but to sell their bodies for extra income.

Agreed. Hwevr, on & off, the rupian is still volatile, due 2 weak fundamentals, though may nt be lng lasting. Eg. in 2005, the economy so bad tat it drop ard 1/2 of its value, then the President decide 2 cut oil subsides 2 stablize the problem. Tk quite a while 4 the currency 2 climb bk though.
Most of recent gains R due 2 the bullish outlk 4 Asian markets (on the whole), as such, I believe tat Rupian is still subj. 2 very high risk once investor(, esp. speculators) moved out of emerging markets since US & Europe market lk more attractive (P2B, ...).

Yes, the SEZ will be good to all the SMEs in singapore and many many workers and people in Indonesia. Imagine a worker who is able to feed his family of 3 or more. And say a million jobs are created, how many people benefit from these? The workers here are cheap and it has a mutual benefit to singapore and indonesia if things are planned properly.

However, the indos are always afraid that others will earn more $$ than themselves. yet, they dont have the expertise to do the job. So they rather not do it. When others done it, they get jealous and want a share too, yet they dont want to work for it.

The new govenment have given more autonomy to local govenments, which see it as a money spinning event, for whoever get elected. they care more about their pockets than to draw in investments. Of cos they want investments, but with their style( corruption and coffee money, mind you, not small sum). So that is one of the reasons why they would not pen down the agreements. They would lose alot of $$$( outside) as they are not able to bend the rules.

Rupiah on the whole is not stable and many chinese has parked their $$$ elsewhere. This place is still a good place to make $$ and has alot of resources. Unless some major event happens, I dont see the Rupiah dropping to crazy levels again.
