After reading bro Johnkhb's post,came bro Lao Er Ge's post where ANOTHER food court was intro in this thread for the 1st time,Eatern Food Court. I think nothing of this food court until i look deeper and realise that this is another place for some DOWN TO EARTH good tasting food,hehehe....

I believe there should be many non-sea-food base food courts in Batam (eg.Utama 98,Best Eating House,Morning Bakery,Indo Rasa etc etc),but I shall go comb each and everyone of them to the best of my knowledge…one at a time,leisurely at my own pace…hehehe….and by the way,thats Breakfast in Batam for now on Eatern Food Court. (notice Windsor Food court was never mentioned in any of my summaries or Food posts?Hehehe...)

Now that i settled my 3 meals,i shall leave the rest of my meals in others days for my friends whom i will be following in the coming trip. Next i should be working on which Massage Places i will like to explore,hehehe....

I'm a little "lucky" as i grew up eating street food due to the little pocket money i have & few home cooked food available. So my stomach residential bacteria are a little more "bad-ass".

I like to mingle with locals and eating among them is a good way to make friends. These locals will share with u what little they have.

I have backpacked on low budget before (india, Thailand, vietnam, china..) and eaten along side the locals in unsavory places eg. next to storm drains where u see dead animals floating.

No matter how tough one may think one is, its always mindful to apply some common sense. Some useful rule of thumb i apply to manage risk are;

* Always stick to bottle/canned water/drinks for hydration
* Don't drink with Ice in a cup, use chilled bottled drinks if u want cold. And drink direct from bottle w a straw if u don't want to look so "macho". Yes rats, lizards & other pets do run on canned/bottle drinks for their IPPT training circuit & poop on it.
* Don't buy food that you see that has no customer traffic or little customer traffic ie the food has been sitting there for long time. Bacteria has set-in and started to have their orgy already. When picking food, always go with the local crowd mentality, ie.e go to the stalls that the locals go to. Locals knows best.
* Make sure you eat fully cooked/microwave/grilled meat food i.e make sure they reheat it up again even its already cooked before. For Nasi Padang in Indo, i know the food are left on the shelves. Make sure there are nets covering the shelves & food.
* Don't take any un-bottled sauces or gravies, if you are worried. If it don't taste good w/o gravy e.g. satay, then just take lesser loh.
* Finally, common sense. Although some say common sense is not so common, so maybe refer to Nono's recently listed a few threads ago (#30534) "guildline on how to pick the almost 'right' girl". Also the personal hygiene of the kitchen staff(s), no matter whether u eat at cafe or street stalls, its will be a "lucky" draw for the unlucky stomach.
* Lastly, if all things failed, bring & take charcoal pills or Po Chai pills (for those old timers will know this item) and drink a lot of bottled water.

Disclaimer: i am no Bear Grylis of street food expert. I have my own minor diarrhea episodes too. I just take it as colon cleansing loh and drink lots of bottled water. Lastly, One Man's Food is Another Man's Poison, literally!!!

p.s some hotels or restaurant may claim to have water filtration system. But if they don't regularly maintain it or change the filters also no use.

Maybe some bros can add to the do's and don'ts of eating outside.

Just Noted: Nono's new food places and listing. Pictures of food looks so tempting and yummy and safer i guess.

I think what you just said is quite true. Those who are regulars to a certain cheong scene wont go around with the "i know better attitude" (or even pay above the "norm") and on the contrary, if everyone are willing to sit together to share and learn together minus the "i know better" attitude,that would be an entirely different story.

Lol...no one's going out with him,even tho he is paying for almost everything (except tipping),like Liquor,Mami,Papi etc...lol. Example in my Batam trips. Every joints i visit,i would take down how many girls are left during a certain time of the day cos i visit each joint in different time of the day for 2 days. OKT plays an important role too. If i hear a girl i book complains about an OKT on how strict they are,that is likely to be a good joint for me,cos i see disciplinary in its joint. And if i hear girls praising or bribing an OKT,i know my choice for that girl i book from that particular joint sure 80% siao liao....lol.

I also measure the joint's booking prices versus the number of leftovers versus the number of OKTs that shares in amount of booking fee too. Reading from past posts, joints that has more OKTs in its joints are sharing the booking fees MORE. Meaning a million rupiah girl from a certain joint is only getting 1/3 of the amount of that 1 million rupiah if there are 2 OKTs in a joint. Whereas a booking fee for the same girl that cost 600k is getting about the same amount if there is only ONE OKT in a joint. In other word,joints that has ONLY ONE OKT cost lesser,hehehe...the worst are those joints that has 3 OKTs,which means the total amount are divided into 4 parts and the girl i book ONLY gets 1/4 of the total amount i paid.

Of course there will be some cases i see that OKT will actually OVERLY MARK UP the price and according to the girls,the okt write down in their record book a lower price and the girls gets what is recorded. Example,charging a desperate rich-enough customer 1.5 million for a usual 800k girl. Customer/s pays 1.5 million rupiah,but put on record as 800k,Mami or papi pocket the extra 700k,girl get 1/3 or 1/4 of the 800k. Totally brilliant, isnt it? lol...and thats what i meant by OKT plays an important role in this booking joint game,hehehe....

Oh, there is also the other parts where if the girls are not being booked for the day where would they go to grab the extra dollars,guess i no need to spell these out again,hehehe...as this will be those place that you get a million rupiah and over girls from booking joints at between 400k to 600k,hehehe....

Thats one reason why i organise group trips. In every group trips,we have a "debriefing" too. Btw, looks like I will hve to come out from retirement as I met up with my `sifu' who intro Batam/Tanjong Pinang to me 20 over years ago. He wanted to visit Hatyai for the last time but I persuaded him to go to Batam if he really want to `chiong' for one last time and one of the important reason I suggested Batam is bec he is no longer mobile and need a walking stick to move around.

We actually talk about this a few weeks ago and at today's meetup, he told me he went to Batam alone on Monday! He spent a night there and came back on Tuesday. His memory is failing him, thus, what I can gather from him:
1. He took a cab from Harbour front and ask cab driver to intro budget hotel...which driver took him to Hai Hai Hotel. Cab charge is 70k rupiah and hotel stay is 220000 rupiah per night.
2. He went for a haircut for approx 20k rupiah. Barber recommend him a girl for 800k rupiah, which he took but he didn't keep her overnight as she not really his type....but he paid her full amt.
3. Took his meals at foodcourt(walking distance but he cannot remember the name), spending approx 100k rupiah for him and the girl.

In summary, he didn't really enjoy himself as much as bonking is no longer his primary goal(or no longer possible). Now his enjoyment is being with friends for drinking and beautiful ceweks to accompany; maybe a massage or two. He overpaid for taxi and girl(he's now a newbie ) but he's not quibbling.

Thus, he is requesting that I bring him to Batam this coming Monday for a two night stay as this is probably the last time he can `chiong'. I may reduce it to 1 night as 2 nights may be too much for him. I will need to go thru' ur guide again to plan a itinerary for the trip.

In the meantime, any suggestions from u or fellow bros are welcome .

My plan would consider the following:
1. Hotel wifi not important; just a good budget hotel near massage, pubs and food courts(he cannot walk too far)
2. He only wants a slim good looking girl to keep him company for drinking sessions. Maybe bring him to KTV or pubs where girls will accompany him?
3. 1 massage session for him for novelty sake...he's a drinker, thus, probably not so important for him

Total agree with your points. Water is the main culprit. Don't any how drink the water from unknown source. If you have to, make sure it is boiled.

I had it once big time when I was offered well water from friend kampong. Lao Sai for 2 days. It may be sweet, but not strong enough.

Thank you for the update. Looks like due to good business ,they just increase their price,used to be 365k for 3 session,now it is 432k (minus the Lavender oil thingy from bro koh's receipt). I cant comment much on this place as i only been there once and its pretty ok except there are too many people even at early noon but most recent 2 FRs shows this place isnt worth the cost.

Apparently the 2 FRs above shows the bros kind of kena chop or being pushed to buy something they dont really need,hence the higher price (VIP room etc).

Damage was 475k for 3 sessions with a ginger tea from the above FR.So i am guessing the price increase started somewhere towards end of last year or beginning of this year.

I reference both positive and negative reviews,make a comparison and then reference them again. I then make out my own conclusion after analysing... i wont be going to Delta Spa anytime soon. Altalanta Spa should be my next target for higher end men's Spa,hehehe....
