Lesson learnt: Not all friends are reliable(even your so-called brothers).
Hiya bro

I just upped you cause simply love the happy ending and sincerely hope it will continues till the day you leave the earth, cos I'm quite a hopeless die-hard romantic.

With regards to the lesson learnt, not trying to be a smart-aleck or Mr smarty-pants here but I would say that the true lesson learnt should be "to depend on yourself", instead of expecting others to help you (bros or not). You did not indicate what kind of help you requested from your friends, if its emotional support than they deserved to be condemned for not even able to provide such a simple help.

However if it is about money, than its one simple lesson which i learnt heavily in the past, its damn easy to lend the money but farking difficult to get it back, its even worse to "kui chui" to ask for return frequently if its a close friend when the borrower simply act blur. Moreover when friends declined to lend money, they may also have some unknown difficulties or burdens you may not know about >_<

This is one undeniable fact in life, nobody owes anybody a living and everybody is entitled to their own opinions and rights, would suggest you try to forgive & forget and leave your bitterness behind for a much better future.

There again thats my pathetic 2 dongs worth of comments and my disclaimer is that its just my own selfish opinion and not everybody may agree with it.

Cheerios.....SS08 ^_^

Bro thanks your ur point... I fully agree with what you said, for myself i do not like to borrow money from others as i know the after-effect of not able to return on time.

What i meant was when i had a stable job, friends or bros will call me to have coffee or going out to "chiong", when they heard i lost my job, everybody just disappeared, scared that i might open mouth to get money from them or they might need to "sponser" me!!

This is all too normal in today's world. When you are rich, people treat you well. When you are down and out, they simply push you away. I still remember when i decided to venture in Vietnam many years ago, i got so many remarks that i am crazy to venture into a WAR TORN country. People laugh at me, mock at me. I don't deny that my first year in HCMC was tough, i stay in a rented room with my wife (gf then) and spending every penny was tough. But i was determined to change my luck. When my business started to do better, i moved into a 3 storey house. Then life became better. But still, lots of Singaporeans still jeer at me. I remember that when i first invested in a house there, i used up around 70% of my savings but i was clear minded enuff to know that i will reap returns quite fast. My luck changed after i started to invest in properties and stocks. Since 2005 when lots of Singaporeans started to venture into vietnam, i got many request to show them around, introduce them to govt officials etc. Those who used to laugh at me changed their views of me. Now back in Singapore, i can say i am at least better that most of the singaporean friends i know. But nowadays, i am indifferent. I don't enjoy friend's company. Its easy to have friends, but true friends are hard to come by. if you have one true friend this lifetime, u are damm lucky

Vietnamese prostitutes showing up in Geylang
They hang around lorongs 42 and 44; MPs and grassroots leaders addressing problem
By Tan Dawn Wei , Chong Chee Kin & Teh Joo Lin
THE area between Geylang lorongs 42 and 44 does not usually see much red-light action, but Vietnamese prostitutes are plying their trade there.
Dr Fatimah Lateef, the area's MP, is now leading grassroots efforts to address this problem.

Since last July, up to 40 Vietnamese women have been spotted each night in the area, which has a cluster of five pubs.

Some also work in Joo Chiat and come after the pubs there close after midnight.

Dr Fatimah, an MP for Marine Parade GRC, told The Sunday Times: 'It doesn't matter where they are coming from, as long as we control and contain the issue...and the problem is restricted to the main road and doesn't affect the residential and private areas.'

She has led initiatives to reduce the number of streetwalkers between lorongs 22 and 44, such as improving lighting in the back lanes.

Illegal prostitution has been in the news lately. Last month, MP Christopher de Souza told Parliament that an evening drive down Duxton Road and Duxton Hill will 'prove that prostitutes operate well beyond the artificial borders of Geylang'.

Statistics point to the presence of more illegal sex workers. Last year, some 5,400 foreign prostitutes were nabbed, a 25 per cent increase over the number in 2006.

The police have stepped up anti-vice raids, from 890 in 2006 to 950 last year. The women from China, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and other Asian countries typically come here on social visit passes.

About half of the total number of female foreigners arrested for vice-related activities were arrested in Geylang last year.

There, the red-light area has traditionally been in the even-numbered lorongs between 16 and 24.

The Vietnamese women in lorongs 42 and 44 are mostly in their early 20s and trawl the pubs in pairs.

Their stories are invariably the same: They come from Ho Chi Minh City; it's their first visit to Singapore; their friends took them to the pubs to work.

One of them, Tran, 21, who is petite and has long straight hair, said she was a hairdresser's apprentice but left because she could not earn enough to support her parents and younger sister.

She stays in a Geylang lodging house with three friends who also do the rounds in Joo Chiat and Geylang. But Joo Chiat, her friends told her, is not safe as there are many police raids.

The women's social visit passes usually allow them to stay for two weeks. In a month, they can earn about $1,000.

Many leave just before their visa expires, usually making a trip to Johor Baru before returning to extend their stay.

Mr Daniel Tung, 32, programme director at non-governmental organisation Action For Aids, said of the illegal sex trade: 'We're not the only ones facing this. It's worldwide since the girls move around.'

Project coordinator of Women's Care Centre Viviene Lim, 33, who runs an outreach programme called Project Streetwalker, said the illegal prostitutes easily outnumber the licensed ones.

Unlike the latter who work in regulated brothels, illegal prostitutes do not go for mandatory health checks.

Women's Care Centre, which set up a drop-in centre for streetwalkers last August in Geylang Lorong 20, has conducted free health screenings for nearly 60 streetwalkers. Five had sexually transmitted infections.

'Whenever you broach the subject of sexually transmitted infections, it turns them off. They're not willing to face up to it and there's a fear that if they are tested positive, they will have no resources to deal with it,' said Ms Lim.

Only those who have not been to Vietnam or have no idea of Vietnam and the gals working here will believe that the gals make only S$1000 a month at JC. If only earn S$1000 a month, they might as well stay in Vietnam to work as WL. If these gals can get 1 month Social visit pass, they will be making more than S$5000 a month.

This is very subjective. To earn more than $5000 per month, then they must earn $200 per night (less 1 week having period ). In sgp to have customer every night is very difficult liao. These days is very different from last year, nowsaday JC and GL is very quiet. They must venture out of these area!

$5000 must be the so called "ang pai" or those financially supported by a few OXs

if not, majority of them, after deducting all the related expenses, can break even or bring back a few hundred, can considered lucky liao.

in fact I was told, many new ones, need at least two to three trips before can make enuf to pay back to their "boss" or agent for the initial cost. Some of them can't even enuf for their daily lodging, meals and taxi. I saw before when I went KTVs, some of girls, no customers for the whole night.

M1 just launched new plans today with Free IDD 021 to 19 destinations , including Vietnam. But there's a catch, there's an additional subscription of S$5.35 each month. For bros who are call Vietnam often or even for your spouse, i may think that its quite good. Its per second billing somemore.

There's a saying in Vietnam that those gals that come to singapore to work are the `leftovers.' , meaning no looks and no body. To a large extend, this may be true, but there are also one in a million that is quite chio. The good looking ones are often in hot demand in Vietnam and there's no need for them to work here. My popular Angels can earn around 20 to 30 million VND a month just by working in HCMC.

Many good one had been raid in spore n were sent bk to viet. They had no choice but to stay in viet. if let them choose, i believe they will still prefer come singapore. Viet too competative liao, the whole street r all women, u think they every night so lucky got customers meh!?? N u think all the guys are like singapore guys so good to them meh!??

If wan to look for wife, need to go viet n find lah. but just wan to play play, singapore more than enough liao lah. they r pros in singapore, they r pros in viet, no difference. Just like pizza hut, some ppl prefer home delivery, some prefer eat in shop. Same mah, still eating pizza.
