There's loan for housing, properties and cars la bro. But what most people do is to use cash to buy the land, then mortgage to the bank to get cash, and take the cash to built the house. So no matter what, u still need around US$50k or more for a piece of land to build yr house on. As for cars, there's no 100% loan. If you can loan 50% and for 3 years, its already very good. banks in vietnam are still very conservative, they still need you to have a certain amount of cash or have something else that is valuable to mortgage to them before they will loan you.

And not to mention cheaper electricity bill as there's power failure every other week. i remember i have to tahan power failure at least once a forthnight when i was staying there. When they cut power supply, its not 1 or 2 hours hor, its from 630am in the morning till maybe 7pm at night.

You could get a piece of land in the country for cheaps, of course not in the cities. And really, if I wanted to live in a city, Sillypore's great. But the country in North Vietnam is by far different. Weather is great for a few months and it's the lure of country living...slower pace of life, landed property, etc.

And yes, you could get something for S$50K. I was offered a piece of land for $15K, and it's not too bad.

Any bros can comment about the visa. Can you get some form of long-term visa there, or better still, PR ??

Bro, if you are referring to the province, then its possible. But as foreigner, how can you buy land in the province, unless yr wife is vietnamese? The next thing is, most provinces in vietnam do not have clean water, stable electricity supply and even proper roads (unless its the province center)

I concur to this statement.
When I go back to my girlfriend province, the water and electricity were cut off of from morning till evening/night.

Road to her house is 30min motorcycle ride on a bumpy road (dry sesason) or a muddy road (rainiy season). Reach her house sure turn brownish.

Sometime they fill up urns and pills of water when the tap is running. If no tap water, than have to tahan the water collected from the rain.

Another thing is the mosqitoes. 1 night no electricity, no fan... go into room kana attacked by alot mosquitoes. With 5 sec, kana 20 bite on leg and hand.

Just like to check if any bro have thought of staying in VN, once it's no longer viable to work in Sillypore, could be due to retirement, or kenna retrenched and cannot find a gainful employment (due to age?) here. Buying land and building house no problem, about $50K can do the job. My other considerations would be permanent residency or some long term stay (can't survive on those 1 month visa), and earning a small keep. With S$500,000(no kid), and your objective is to enjoy your retirement(have time to smell the flowers), and you love the sea,sand,seafood,sun,s*x(in no
particular order) - try Phu Quoc island, Nha Trang, or Mui Nhe(Phat Thiet).

And, if you like cooler climate, Bao Loc or Da Lat (Lam Dong province).

S'porean doesn't need a visa to visit VN(usually given 1-month tourist visa upon arrival; this can be extended via travel agent).

I had my business there, but it was under my wife's name. I stayed there under 6 months tourist VISA. I renew it every 6 months, so for 4.5 years, think of the number of times i renewed the VISA. Normally, its not easy to renew 6 months tourist visa so many times, but because i know the immigration `big-shot' for southern Vietnam, so i managed to renew it so many times.
