Bro,

I would think it is easier for a Chinese to go to BKK than going to HK and Macau.
To go BKK, what they need is just a passport, apply through the police station in his/her 户口place. Nomally can get within a week depends on how develop the province they are in. The more develop the faster. and it is valid for 5 years. Upon getting the passport, buy an air ticket and off they go.

To go HK and Macau? I dont think they can use passport for ordinary people who are not working there. CN Gov feel that HK and Macau belong to China, is an insult for them to use passport to travel within the same country, thats where the 港澳通行证came about.
To apply 港澳通行证, they have to go back kampong to apply from the police station as per applying for passport. but I think it only valit for a singlle entry and validity is very short, not sure 1 or 3 months. With that 证，then they can go to gongbei to apply for another pass to get into HK/Macau.. Damn Chat lat...

Advise you to drop by any tour agency in SZ, Macau or even CP to find out the detail. Heard resident of SZ/GZ and SHA no need to apply, I am not too sure as I dont have friends who have the above 3 户口 that had travelled to HK/Macau.

Actually I had not seen one mysely. As I said, if it is only good for single entry, sure have to go back kampong to re-apply liao.

The Kampong police responsible for issuing passport/港澳通行证 only, Zhuhai immigration do the next step. knn, make life miserable for everyone...Especially bros who intend to bring their mm for shopping trip to HK and macau..Good for some people like me, save cost!

that's strange ... becoz my gal show me her passport with 港澳通行证 paste inside her passport ... one for HK and one for macau ...
it looks exactly like our visa to china .....
the 港澳通行证 is only valid for one trip ... validity 3 mths ...
she said with this 港澳通行证, she can go to hk and macau within 3 mths from date of application ...

yes ... passport alone cannot get into hk and macau ...
still need that 港澳通行证 ... but now it seems there's another pass they need ... it's so confusing and complicated ....

If I am not wrong, MM need to pass the passport to the counter and apply for the pass.

My MM went hometown to make her passport and we still need to apply for one pass before entering Macau. If like what other bros said here, this pass can only apply with the 港澳通行证. Guess MM have to go back hometown again to apply for this 港澳通行证.

No wonder last time I ask her to go over to Macau, she abit reluctant. Maybe it is too troublesome for her.

I did make some check up last year.
This is the answer I got.(not from custom)

There is 2 way to get into HK/Macau

1) by Passport with Visa
2) 港澳通行证 with pass

Both can get u into HK/Macau.

How it works.
Normally Passport work this way. Need to get a agent to apply Visa to Malaysia or Thailand or indo(this 3 is the eariest to get according to them)

Once got get in/out of HK/Macau 2 times inside a time frame of around 3 months( roughly. I not very sure)


The other will be 港澳通行证. Need to get a group tour visa thing. But damn stupid. 1 ppl also can call group. with 港澳通行证 n pass, can cross over. Can only use once per trip.

Passport n 港澳通行证 have to apply back in hometown. how fast depend on place liao.. not sure..

The Visa n pass thing have to get agent to apply or make at custom. Visa will need more time to get.

that's all I know.. but how true i also dun know. will verilfly when i there.

if you flying to other country via macau,
no need 港澳通行证.

They allow you to stay there for 3 days.
Correct me if i am wrong.
