Hey Guys, anyone up for a trip to batam this coming thurs till friday or over the weekends? As it's 1st time would need some company to guide lah..

Lunch, you try the one opposite top 100, hotel astro.... that place alot of good food and variety.

You referring Lovona Inn? In Peniun? That is rather new place...In front, you got BCS mall, and EATON makan... QUite a lot of food in that area. But for better Bua Kut Tey, try the food centre downstairs hotel astro, the corner....

That place is abit far from cheonging places, but with taxi, it is ok. Those ojeks and taxis infront of BCS? hahaha, better nego properly.... Chop robert ones.

Btw, there is this very nice seafood stall at a coffee shop, namely Kedai Kopi Harmonis, at the stretch of shops opposite Hotel Farmosa . Run by a Chinese man and surprisingly fresh fishes and sotong. Ordered a bbq snapper, sotong as well as poached boon tong with assam gravy. Super nice and one fish (about 400 grams) at only 35k. The yellow spice sauce used and the super hot sambal pedas for dipping were superb.

Also, the bbq was very well done and much better than those roadside stalls at just outside Nagoya Shopping Mall. We did eat at one of these stalls...the stall opposite the one with a boat display. Not so good..though price and freshness of fishes about the same as the stall at Harmonis coffee shop, the sauce and chilli not as good. Also bbq not well done, chow da (burnt) here and there, wah liao.

yup astro famous for bak ku tey, tonic soup and mei pangsit.
lovona inn, right bro is that one, around 200k, quite new for hotel in batam, but disavantage is no cable tv. now not sure, but previous stay dun have. also its very near to indo thai massage.

Last min decided to go Batam tomorrow. After reading back few pages think I'll stay at Mercure Hotel. Understand taxi there don't run on meter. Don't want to kenna chop by taxi drivers. Any advise on that? Like what's the average price from ferry terminal to hotel and from hotel to other places of interests (cheonging). Thanks.

i have heard of a coffeeshop in nagoya selling nice and cheap seafood, so thats the one. i used to eat at nagoya foodcourt so dun know where this coffeeshop ppl always mention. thanks bro. at least now got the coffeeshop name to find.

The prices are quoted at the registration table for taxis. Or nego a price to other places.

Not just makan thread. Usually, for seafood, I rather go Batu Besar, compared to those selling in the shop house.

Next best place are food courts like A1 and Windsor, where you get more variety.

Usually, these places are filled with ah peks with ceweks. Easy to spot those WL, as they are usually with lipstick make up, revealing clothes and high heels. Drinking with the men.

One good thing is, you dont bother everyone looking at you as if you are a sinner, bringing ladies. It is the norm... So far, from experience, 90% of the ladies eating with men there are usually WLs, if they are not wives. Very few times, I see group of friends of a mixture of males and females eating in the FC.

Use to be go Batam, gamble, drink and eat...... find ceweks are secondary for many until sutanto came about.....
