Interesting comparison..good news for sinkies. However I believe in 1998 the rupiah was almost at 12000 rupiah to 1 SGD. I did benefit from that.

Bro, my 1 cent opinion on above point.

I always feel tat permata has the best mix of quantity & quality, with SYTs & slight milfs evenly balanced and are seated clearly from left to right accrding to the price group of 800k to 1.2 juta. For my last trip last week, it is the 1st time i finally decided to go book a gal there. And similar to you, the mami strongly refused to lower my preferred gal of 1.2 juta. She simply would not entertain any nego at all.

Here comes my main point. I actually felt tat permata's pricing and non-negotiation is actually good & I would not disagree with it. Its becoz if u compare it to MM, indah2, Bunga, etc, the same type of young & pretty SYTs wld be quoted higher like 1.5 - 1.8 juta and papi/mami allow nego but usually the most u can lower to is 1.3 or 1.4 which is still above 1.2

There is not much diff, juz tat i feel permata is the only one using flat + fixed pricing, meaning they will juz price the gals on the regular price u normally get for diff categories (e.g. 800k-milfs, 1-1.2juta-SYTs) so its a matter of take it or leave it. Whereas, most if not all other joints can fluctuate the prices irregularly for diff gals based on many factors like nego skills, with or w/o cab/ojek, regular customer discounts out of goodwill, etc

As a customer, no doubt u will kinda feel good if gotten a 50k or 100k discount which is a cab ride or a meal. And i am not judging its pricing + non-nego style, but merely stating tat permata is pricing its gals to the regular prices right from the start as compared to other joints, which might speed things up as regular bros who understd & agree with its pricing will juz pick & go.

The reasons why I will still stay in Lailai mutiara once in a blue moon is because of the following:

1) It is one of the best budget hotel around the vicinity, interior and comfort level better than hotel bahari and hotel batam star. I would classify it as a good one star hotel as it has not reach the status of 2 star unlike hotel sentosa (2 star but with a rundown pool)

2) It is within 100m from goldbird and orchid so convenient to book a cewek without the need to hire transport or walk far far.

3) It is beside the popular sundanese food outlet Warung sunda bu joko and macdonald which opens 24 hours convenient for night owl like me.

4) The food in the room service menu is cheap and delicious. I ordered special fried rice with milo ice for 2 sets (me & cewek) only cost 900k=$9 nia. No need to go outside to buy dinner.

5) There are a few massage centres nearby like abi massage, bahari massage, Lailai massage that can be called to your hotel room. (got happy ending)

However sport massage and taiqi massage is nearby but they do not do outcall massage instead they do incall massage means you go to their place for massage.(no happy ending)

However, none of the hotel in batam can match or come close to Formosa in terms of :

1) Value for money stay at $48 for a high end 3 star hotel given that the room is well furnished, carpeted, spacious, good wifi reception, etc

2) Superb centralised location.
north of Formosa - NED, harmoni hotel pubs, goodway, etc
northwest of Formosa - Pacific, harbourbay
northeast of Formosa - seruni disco, the hills, spa secret, ihotel
south of Formosa - Penuin, BCS mall,etc
southwest of Formosa - DC mall and the land of massage paradise
southeast of Formosa - Pelita area

3) Many massage joints, restaurants, shopping centres (Nagoya hill, lucky plaza, citywalk, etc), money changers, booking joints around the vicinity.

4) Impressive customer service with warm hospitality to hotel guest will make you feel at home. Bellboy, reception staff, security guards, chambermaids all are very polite and friendly.

5) More happening place than any other hotel. This is because it has king's massage with lots of pretty syt that can be called to your room for massage.

There is also alishan ktv if you like to sing with companion of pretty/sexy cewek sitting beside you for raba raba in a KTV room plus the option to have short time at 900k or long time at 1.35 juta overnight.

There is also tea story for tea lover and a 24 hour restaurant in case want to eat supper but lazy to go out.

6) A decent breakfast with a good mix of oriental & western cuisine which is good for a 3 star standard.

7) Provision of safe deposit box at the room behind counter . Peace of mind leaving all the valuables and passport there.

8) Many convenient store nearby within walking distance and zhi char kopitiam for makan supper.

9) Many hotel appointed taxi (safer) on standby outside hotel in case need to travel to other place urgently.

10) Last but not least, the air-con has improved, more cooling than last time and the hugh king size bed is more comfortable than the bed of some other hotels. The option of switching on the LED ceiling light, cove light, bedside light, table light create a very relax ambience for the guest in the room...

Thanks for the heads up on the noticeable increased crime rate in Batam too. When i flipped thru the Sillypore's paper over the weeks,i see no lesser crime in Sillypore as compare to Batam. (the other side of the coin is it could have gone unreported) I also notice in Batam,most of the victims in crime involve their local more than foreigners.

Yes,your good advise to remind us to always be humble and not show off or be yaya will go a long way for future trips to Batam (or even anywhere in the world). Be safe,stay safe.

Good to know you bargained,even for taxi rides. If you just sit in and kept quiet w/o asking for pricing,who knows you might be asked to pay more than 100k from Nagoya to BCS. And when you refuse to pay,who knows what might happen.The highest amount i seen people being conned to pay in this thread is S$30. I am glad my guides is helpful to you. I stayed in KTM resort (sekupang) once and to go alone out of the resort,i was quoted 100k and going anywhere to Nagoya from there cost 100k...lol. Lucky there is free shuttle service from the resort itself to Nagoya area.

From what i know,one does not need to know the Bahasa Indo language to travel to Batam. As i always say,going to Batam is like travelling to Sentosa,except you need a passport. I also believe one do not need to know Malay language to travel to Malaysia too.

But having said that,it is definitely an added advantage to know the respective countries's language. The whole idea in my travel is,over some time,i will slowly adapt to turn whats supposingly a disadvantage against me to my advantage,yet i still remain not knowing their language. Remember,my opening bargaining converation in most Massage Shops? Hehehehe...

"i 1st time come Batam,my friend (in SBF) tells me hj 100k,fj 200k...blah blah blah...other shops (naming some shop names on the cheong list) i go yesterday also 100k hj 200 fj....blah blah blah...."

The story goes on....hehehe...and it work out beautifully most of the time.

(but in an unlikely event if it doesnt,there is always next shop and the next next shop since massage is cheap)

Yes,it's always good to know the local language. For e.g... your tall skinny girl was gossiping about me being "chap chye" (mixed vegetable rice) cos the 2 times that she saw me, I was with different girls.
