If you don't buy a local SIM card (e.g., TelkomSel Simpati) to use a phone in Batam, but you prefer to keep using your usual phone with your usual SIM (e.g., to keep using your WeChat and WhatsApp IDs), then you are bound to using WiFi to access Internet. In most hotels, the wifi is good, but the wifi provided by restaurants and cafes mostly sucks.

If you give up using the wifi of JCO and restaurants in Nagoya Hill because they are slow and run out of IP addresses to assign, as I gave up, there is a good alternative: the @wifi.id network, available almost anywhere in Nagoya, Jodoh and I assume around Batam cities.
One week access is only 20k payable by SMS from a Simpati SIM card (I have TWO phones: my Galaxy smartphone and an old Nokia with Simpati SIM card). Once you pay, you receive an SMS with ID and password.
The speed of @wifi.id is acceptable in Nagoya (adequate for web browsing and chatting), but very slow in other places, for example Ramayana mall Jodoh. Now, I am using it always, instead of asking the pw from restaurants or cafes. It is available also in Harbour Bay and Windsor. That's very useful, because you can be online also using your regular phone almost anywhere without expensive data roaming.

Thanks for the info Bro Blackpage, personally, i will be using a sim card on my tab and using it as a mobile hotspot for my hp. My hp has a tendency to 'explode' when i come back to the hotel. Hahaha... SG life for u... even when on leave people at work can't leave you alone.

FR 6/11/15 to 7/11/15 (2nd trip)

2nd solo trip to batam, and my hotel of choice is Hana hotel. Took a ferry before noon, and it really helped that it was a weekday so I didn't have to squeeze with everyone to board the ferry as well as clear customs. Managed to get an ojek for 40k from Batam Ferry terminal to my hotel so quickly checked in and changed some money at IDR/SGD 9600 nearby (far from the 10k in my previous trip ).

My booking joint of choice for this trip is Goldbird, so took an ojek over at 10k and stopped right outside Batam Star hotel. From there it wasn't hard since Gold Bird was immediately within sight once i circled round the block in an anticlockwise direction. Unfortunately I was too early at 12.45pm and there were only 9-10 milfs but none my type, so decided to leave for massage first. Nearest place that I knew of from the info in this thread was Bluemoon Massage which was literally just opposite Harmoni (or was it Harmony?). Took a 1.5hr massage in a normal room and was given a youngish looking girl, her massage wasn't good but can't say it was bad. You spent 110k on Ojeks? Thats alot as most joints are near your hotel area which can be reach by walking using the map I posted before. Just my opinion.
