Climax is on Sai 3 North Pattaya so you need transport ; not your normal sangtow route. Cost is about 150-200B. If you are going , also good idea to drop in on the MooKaTaa or local thai resturants further down the Sai before hitting the place.

When you want to leave Climax , there is a guy in a pickup offering sangtow services and can send you back to the hotel. No need to go out and hail a cab. Just ask the doorman.

Personally i thought is was a nice place to drink but its just a regular massage joint with coyote-ish girls parading the pool. They have a cheap thrill thing where you can buy for 100B ; a drop of skin cream and you can rub it anywhere you like. I guess its a japanese thing!

eh so Climax actually caters to walk-in customers?

cus previously i checked their website it seems to be a membership like g-club kinda thingy and the prices are kinda shocking too (above 30k)

55555 i posted it coz i forsee many questions on the place!

I should be there for Loy Krathong although a snap trip to satisfy my thai urges may be anytime! Pattaya to me now is like a retreat. Its a little boring to me now but i am familar to the place so its like a place to relax rather than cheong. My last trip I cheong nearly everynite of my 10 days there and came back totally exhausted. Getting old lah..........

Totally agreed. By far, Patts is definitely more relaxing than in BKK, and I think it is because it is less commercialised in a sense. The last time I stayed there, had a hotel with a nice pool downstairs (which you hardly get in BKK where most pools are on rooftop) and a nice balcony with a good view (rather than see the brickwall of the next building in bkk). REally enjoyed the relaxing afternoon sitting at the balcony reading and smoking. And not forgetting most of the stuff is cheaper as well.

Man... 3 more weeks to Patts... can't wait.

Go and ask Tim. See the thai hotels thread (sticky). But just to give you an idea, he did mention to me that Pattaya Bay resort, August Suites, April Suites and Baywalk Residence are not bad. All quite near to WS.

or you could also try Flipper House Hotel at Soi 7...walk-in rate 1080 baht...decent looking chic rooms & lobby, have quite a good buffet breakfast of american breakfast & thai food and they have a nice pool with a bar counter inside the pool where you can sit on the stool & drink & eat INSIDE in the swimming pool.

http://www.flippergroup.com/flipper_house/index.html

If you feeling adventurous I would advise best is that you book a hotel thru internet for first day and then recce around other hotels, ask the recep you wanna have a look inside their rooms and then book for the rest of your other days once you like it...or simply just go straight there, recce around and then book your hotel there...provided if its not peak season like Songkran

Moo Ka Ta is like korean bbq to us. There are a few in Sg ; most notabaly the one in Geylang. I think its called Liverpool and its on the first few Lorongs opp the thai disco.

Ninja Moo Ka Taa is one of the more famous ones in Pattaya and they have a few branches but one of the more convinient ones for tourist is on Sai 3.

It makes a different nite out and the ladies love the place. Very cheap , about 120B but no seafood. Including seafood , it would be 300B and they have crayfish , crabs and the other usual sotong , fish , crabs etc. If cooked yourself , its off course included in the bufet price but if you ask the attendant to bbq for you , they will add 10B per plate to your bill.

For the 1st timer , it would be easier to get to Ninja via reaching the North Pattaya / 3rd Road intersection ; I think its a T-Junction (not cross!). From there , walk about 3km (choose a cool night!) southwards (or down Sai 3) and you should see Ninja Moo Ka Ta on the left side.

If you know the place , its faster and easier by going up Sai 3 , or Northward.

Alternatively , you can ask a cab ; some know the place well but make sure you pronounce it properly or you will be met with the usual thai blank face and an 'alai nah?'.
Maybe 3km is a little far ; its more like 1km but it will seem long when you are looking for somewhere uknown.

There is another Moo Ka Ta just after Big C. For those that know the place , take the sangtow to as far up north as you can by Sai2 and drop near Big C. Walk upwards towards the Petrol(Shell?) station and turn right into the lane after the Petrol Station. Walk down about 200m and the 'FISH' signboard will appear on your right. Similar prices to Ninja but I personally think Ninja is better. Only advantage is that this place is easier to get to and back as well as being closer to the drinking places.

If you do not turn into the soi and keep walking up Sai2 , you will walk upon Drinking Street about 1km after the Petrol Station.

If you want cheap , 35B Kow men kai, padthai or Kow Kar Moo etc, there is one food area along the way ; i think just on the steps of a 7-11 or family mart.

Drinking Street is just like another beer bar area much like Soi7/8 or Soi Seadragon in Patong. But is new and the prices are much cheaper than Soi Walking. Some gems here and I met a harsip harsip thai/sg girl.

Not sure of any but just don't try "PAK BOON LOY FAA" on 2nd Road near Walking Street. Bloody con job. Can tell u the chef that does that "flying kang kong" trick went back early. Looks like its not been done in ages. Insult to injury... food is mediocre and expensive.

Re: Pattaya

No trip for me till June but that is to AC. Need to recharge as well as find Vitamin M!

There are lots to do even alone in Pattaya. I normally schedule with friends half the trip and alone the other half during Songkran and Loy Krathong.

When alone , its good time to explore coz there are no expectations from your frends. Since you're no longer a newbie to the place , you can take your time to find some gems away from Soi Walking but it'll always be there as a back up in case you want instant kopi.

LK Metro now has 4 or 5 agogos and the surronding areas boast the beerbars ; like Soi Diana and Soi Lengkee. Walk further up towards the disco Xycte and you have even more bars t explore ; although the concentration is less. Check out Bliss BJ Bar and Buffalo bar so Sai 3.

Try Drinking Street also near Big C, a plesent surprise for me last time. As for food , go for the Oishi group jap buffet ; I think called Shabuhsi. Individual steamboat ; less than 200B. The place at Central 6th floor is always packed but there is another on at the Big C.

Not sure about seafood as I normally eat cheap in Pattaya. The Jontiem ones along the beach are famous but some are not cheap. Can pick up a girl and ask her to bring. Last time I did that , she brought me to Lobster Pot ; expensive and food was very ordinary , not worth it

I normally spend at least 6 hours at VIP suana ; boss there was from HK and does not allow hanky panky on his premises. Very good massages and the steam/hot stones/tub usage is 150B per entry with free with water melon and water to drink. Massage is seperate , off course. A good place also to meet people as normal and bar girls as well as tourist and expat use the place. Its in the middle of Soi 10

From August Suites just up the road from there is a fantastic food court (something like our own Newton market in singapore). The price is much cheaper than Ruen Thai which you mentioned. 1 whole steamed fresh red snapper only cost 250baht and this is the most expensive dish.

It is tucked behind fruit and veg stalls and you could easily walk passed it if you did not know if it was there. Turn in to Pattaya Klang from Second Road and then head north, passed the entrance to August Suites on your left. The food court is on your left, just before you come to the first left hand turn off of the main road.

There are about eight or ten different stall, all serving up fresh meat and seafood dishes which you can choose and ask them to cook in whichever way you want it. After trying it, you will leave Walking street seafood restaurants for good.

Also try the slice mango on coconut rice outside, its fantastic, if your stomach still have any space

Here a map and photo guide of the entrance via the fruit stalls:
