Can change a bit with money changer before exiting the arrivals hall mah. But whatever lah Singaporeans are famous for being carrotheads anywhere in Asia.
I do it the conventional way.. I take the escalator up to the arrival side, choose what ever taxi you want.. be it Malinh or Vinasun and they will be happy to serve you with the meter, cos they no need to queue ma.. This sly move is introduced by Bro Carrot007, which I have been using ever since my 2nd trip to HCM..
Chairman, free to meet for breakfast plus LD4 at 9am on the 19th?
Regards,
vlover
My last trip to HCMC, the taxi at the departure hall can no longer take any customers. I went to Domestic Terminal instead.

you need to be 'fast hand fast leg' the moment you see the cab else the guard will not allow the cab to pick up passenger. I was stopped once in March and then I positioned myself away from the guard and made a quick hop...
I read until confused... you actually went up to the departure hall lah.. by the way, you can take the lift up...
Hehe.. arrival meaning arriving at the airport to leave HCM.. hmm.. mayb I love HCM so much that I dun wish to depart, so everything is arrival in my mind

Scammers are everywhere in Vietnam. Not just taxis. From hawkers to massage and "black" shops.
Yeah but these ones are positioned to accost every single person entering the country. They can't be avoided.
It's not for myself that I'm annoyed, it's more the idea that they're preying on unsuspecting people this way. I know how to avoid them, and get back to town at the normal price. I'm not one for buses but thanks for the info.
There's something about the setup that is just very wrong. Only these taxis are allowed in. Only the ones who are dead set on scamming. It's pretty outrageous. In the old terminal, you could easily access a taxi that was on the up-and-up. And even the scammers were asking for reasonable sums then, like $5-10. Now they want $50.
