I wanna buy a thai amulet for my friend (Caucasian) as a memento. Can anyone recommend where I can buy a cheap one (say $20-30)?
The criteria are that it should be authentic and it should work well.
hi bro 'i'mscrewed',
em.... u wan cheap and THEN still wan to be authentic and should work? hahahha where got so good!!! just joking bro
anyway bro, i think its all in the heart and belief. U can be wearing a multi-millon $ amulet but no matter how, it will not stop the kama effect on u. U can be wear a fake amulet but with sincere belief and heart, good kama will catch up with u no matter where u r.
does any kind bro know where in Thailand can i bring an old amulet to register it's 'birth cert' cos was told dat it's over 100+ yrs old so wish to register it's genuine, tks in advance

I am not sure bro. What i mean it should be authetic as in a monk chanted at it or something like that. Correct me if i am wrong, I thought only the first few versions cost a few hundred dollars. I was under the impression that the say 10th batch by the same temple should be cheaper...
I meant it as a gift so I wanna be sincere in giving but perhaps not extravagant.

i have heard that when u buy amulets in provinces they actually bring the amulet into the open fields and fire shots at it. if it does not hit the amulet then u buy else u can negate the deal. apparently the genuine/good amulet can "make" bullets miss even though fired at close range. this means the amulet can protect the wearer.
is there any basis of truth to this? appreciate if bros can shed some light on this. tks!

Not really true lo...you really can't judge how good or bad a amulet is by the 'gun' test. It all depends on Karma also ma...keke...but I know some amulets tat have the properties of 'Kong-ka-pan' (protection) and they are LP Thuat m16 by Archan Nong, Wat Paknam 4th batch, LP Obasee...
A Paknam 4th batch would cost around $300 - $500 in Singapore depending on condition, there is a speical pim which is even more expensive. This Paknam 4th batch was made in 2514 (about 34 years ago). If you have the connection, you can get around $100 plus. Beware of this amulet as there are many fakes in the market.

If it's just a small crack, it's okay. If the whole amulet breaks into half, then it's pretty useless.
Khun Pean is the name of an Ayuthaya warrior who lived over 400 years ago. He is also the inventor of the infamous Guman Thong (Ghost child). Being a general, he wins in every battle he engaged in especially with the help of his guman thong.
Most people wear Khun Pean for its strong metta especially towards the opposite sex. However, your outflow of $$ will be very huge too. But it often give you lottery luck. Those who are doing illegal sidelines often wear Khun Pean.
However, the figure in the amulet is still Lord Buddha. So don't be mistaken that the figure is a General.
For standard collector items, the base should be a large lotus but it is often mistaken for Guman Thong.
My 2 cents worth.

Not true lo...Long Poo Thim made Kun Pean Pai-Kuman with a Kumantong under the throne of Lord Buddha. It is also damn expensive sia...about $5000 only come second to 400 years old Mang-Kang Kun Pean.

4th batch was made more than 30 years ago using old powder of the 3rd batch and also have Long Poo Sod's hair and holy powder. And also 4th batch had been chanted for 3 mths b4 releasing it to the public! Now it had become a collectors item so the price is higher coz everyone is looking for it.
7th batch is a new one also made in Wat Paknam but does not have the old powder...not really a collectors choice as it is new..but for wearing should be fine.
I think I saw one shop in Fu Luo Shou 3nd floor selling Thai amulets, he have the Paknam 3, 4, 6 and 7 batch. You can drop by and see see look look lo...

Bro, Paknam 4th batch is not a easy amulet to id real or fake coz there are so many different pim (at least 30 moulds). However, some of the low-end fakes, I can easily know that it is fake without even to look at it in mag glass. In Singapore, it is damn expensive lo..
But one word of advice, if you can afford Paknam 4th batch why not get other better amulet for the same price of it? Paknam 4th batch is not chanted by LP Sod as by that time, he already passed away.
If you are really that keen and insisted on Paknam 4th, I can intro my friend to you.

I dont mind paying for the price if it is a real Wat Paknam 4th batch, every quality has its prices.

ya, bro vigin lover. i have heard about the phra khun paen you have mentioned. made by LP Thim, the one with lord buddha and a kumantong under it. actually.... i have 1 of this amulet hahahahaha but im damn sure it is a fake cause i was told that this amulet is like... impossible to get now even with $. those collector that has this amulet will not sell it as i was told it is a really good amulet as well as a damn good investment. anyway, i brought this amulet about.... 4-5 yrs ago in a Wat in bkk. sorry, i don't know how to post pic here if not i can show u guys.
well... a more common phra khun pean will be the lord buddha amulet from a a Wat in supanburi where it is Khun pean hometown, sorry can't remember the name of the Wat. any bro interested in Phra Khun pean story should buy the thai movie 'Khun Pean', its really nice movie especially for bros in this thread. i even shows Khun Pean making Kumantong and how Kumantong help him in the war. the best part i like is in the end where he release his Kumantong to be free and u can see the Kumantong turning from a devilish monster into a cute boy and going free.
