Re: Thai Amulets...

Some Khun Paen Guman Thong info to share......

There are 6 major Khun Paen amulets found in Chedis of old temples, all are of Buddhistic art of Ayuthaya period, namely:
a) Khun Paen Kluab (Enameled), Wat Yai Chai Mongkol, Ayuthaya ( kaolin / enameled)
b) Khun Paen Bai Phut Sa , Wat Yai Chai Mongkol ( baked clay, and lead/ tin-based alloy) c) Khun Paen Wat Ban Krang, Wat Ban Krang, Suphanburi ( baked clay )
d) Khun Paen Khai Pha, Wat Phra Roop, Suphanburi ( baked clay)
e) Khun Paen Kru Monthien, Ayuthaya ( baked clay )
f) KhunPaen Kru Wat Ratchaburana, Ayuthaya ( lead/tin-based alloy)

After a long years of arguments and debates with Khun Paen amulet experts, now comes a summary that Khun Paen Guman Thong assumingly has two origins:

1) It might come from the misinterpretation of the lotus bases of Khun Paen Khai Pha as a lying baby

2) The other source with more reliable evidences say that it comes from Khun Paen legendary biography that Guman Thong is Khun Paen's mighty son and often called by his father to perform miraculous activities. Since Guman Thong life and his mighty emerged from Buddhistic magics and Kathas, so his small figure is put underneath Lord Buddha image on Khun Paen Guman Thong amulet; in this case sometimes Lord Buddha image is subjectively interpreted as Khun Paen.

Amulets of Khun Paen Guman Thong have been created for more than 50 years since mid 2490s up until now. As told by a close disciple of LP Tae Kong Thong: LP Tae was once asked about Guman Thong figure appearing on an amulet underneath the Buddha lotus seat, LP Tae replies, " Whatever form of a Guman Thong might be, it doesn't matter at all--because the most important thing is that how the consecrator monks bless it. "

Too bad LP Tae make Kun Paen with Kumantong is not as famous as LP Thim of Wat Laharai (my fav Guru!).

Sourced some LP Tae's info.....

Tae was a close discipIe of LP Dha of Wat Paniang Taek, an old-day greatest Guru of NakonPathom Province. In around B.E.2470, a few years after LP Dha passing away, LP Tae went to learn higher Dhamma, magical knowledges and GumanThong making from LP Chaem of Wat Takong who was a greatest Guru in the WWII period. LP Tae made both holy powder table-sized GumanThong and small-sized wood carving item for wearing. LP Tae passed away in B.E. 2524 at the age of 90.

Re: Thai Amulets...

The Making of Pra Khun Paen Plaai Guman

Phra Khun Paen Phong Paai Guman was created by Luang Poo Tim Wat Lahanlaai, District Bahn Kaai in Rayong Province.
Amulets created and chanted by Luang Poo Tim are very popular and expensive because his amulets are proven to be good and experienced by many people who wore his amulets.
One of the most popular amulet chanted by Luang Poo Tim is Phra Khun Paen Phong Paai Guman. But is very difficult to find a genuine one as there are lots of fakes one. Another name for this amulet is called Phra York Khun Pon Haeng Bahn Kaai which means the Number One in Bahn Kaai District.
Luang Poo Tim ever mentioned that this Phra Khun Paen is good and asked people to keep it. Luang Poo supervised closely during the making this batch of amulets in the temple.Besides being proven in Metta Mahahiyom, Metta Mahahsane, it also helps one doing business , sales and success in everything you wish to do.
The making of this batch of Khun Paen followed the ancient way of making Phra Khun Paen. The ancient way of making Phra Khun Paen, in this century, only Luang Por Te, Wat Sahm Ngan and Luang Poo Tim Wat Lahanlaai have the ability to make and chant.
Luang Poo Tim was a monk who practised diligently and was a very good monk. He possessed little worldly materials. He was a vegetarian, having only vegatable, salt, chilly one meal a day. In his hut where he stayed, he only has a pillow and a mat, but no electricity. He lived a simple life.
Phra Khun Paen Phong Paai Gumahn is a kind of amulet that is very difficult to make. If it is ever created and chanted properly, the amulet possesses a lot of "power". This is because the amulet will possess the spirit of the Gumahn.
A disciple of Luang Poo Tim named Kon Kulahp, who was a care-taker. One day, Luang Poo Tim asked Kon Kulahp to find a pregnant woman corpse. The condition had to be that the pregnant woman must die on Saturday and crement on Tuesday. Luang Poo told Kon Kulaph, if he ever found the pregnant woman corpse, Luang Poo asked him to removed the powder (Paai Gumahn) from the head of the child from the stomach of the woman. Kon Kulaph went alone and found what Luang Poo Tim wanted. While he was removing the powder, he must not turn his head backwards. This was the instruction from Luang Poo Tim.Kon Kulaph passed the Paai Gumahn to Luang Poo. Luang Poo Tim used special kathah to prevent the spirit leaving from the Paai Gumahn by chanting for 7 days. after 7 days, Luang Poo passed the Paai Guamhn back to Kon Kulaph and asked him to make it into more powdery by pounding on it. While Kon Kulaph was pounding on it, there was sparks that came out from the Paai Gumahn. Kon Kulaph was frightened and quickly reported to Luang Poo Tim. Luang Poo asked him to burn incense and asked for forgiveness. Then, Kon Kulaph was abled to pound it.Luang Poo Tim mixed the Paai Guman powder with Itije powder, Patamang powder, Prawai powder, Jindahmanee powder, 108 types of herbs powder and many other types of powder. After Luang Poo Tim had mixed the plaai Gumahn powder with the rest of the various types of powder,
Luang Poo started to chant the Pra Khun Paen. Luang Poo would make a few a day, and chant them slowly in his room. There are 2 different mould in this batch of amulets; Pim Yai (Big Mould) and Pim Lek (Small Mould). The mould that was used to make the amulets followed the design of ancient Pra Khun Paen design, but with a slight differences.
Luang Poo Tim called this batch of amulet as Pra Khun Paen Plaai Guman. The size of the Pim Yai is 3.5cm in length and 2 cm in width. The front design of the amulet is a Buddha sitting in sammahdti. On the left and right are 2 Guman Tong in praying position and hands in "wai" position. At the back, is the famous Luang Poo Tim's Yan Hah that represents the 5 past Buddha (Prajow Hah Pra Ong); Na Moh Put Ta Ya. On the right is an inscription of the name "Luang Poo Tim", on the left is "Itsarigoh". Below is an inscription of the temple name "Wat Lahanlaai".The size of the Pim Lek is 2 cm in length and 1 cm in width. The front design of the amulet is a Buddha sitting in sammahdti in full lotus position. Below the Buddha is a sleeping Guman. On the left and right are 2 Nang Kwak, hand in "Kwak" position. The 2 Nang Kwak and a sleeping Guman Tong were used as part of the design because Nang Kwak is believed to give luck and the Guman Thong give Metta Mahahsene (loving kindness). The back of the amulet is a Yan Hah. Below the Yan Hah is the inscription "Luang Poo Tim Wat Raiwahree". Wat Raiwahree is the old name of Wat Lahanlaai. Both Pim Yai and Pim Lek, were made many times and were not made in a single day, because Luang Poo would chant them slowly once the amulet was made. The colour of each amulets has a slight different. This is due to the amulets being hand made by his disciples; different amount of powder and different pressure when his disciples pressed into the mould. But every amulets surely has the Plaai Guman powder, because Luang Poo Tim had personally put the Plaai Guman powder during the last stage of making the amulets, which is after his disciples had applied the other types of materials. If you used a magnifiying glass to look at some of the amulets, sometimes you can see red dots, hairs and even nails. Some Pim Yai, mostly the Neua Khaow(White Material), have a pair Sahligah Takruk which was inserted by Luang Poo Tim after the amulets were chanted. A layer of gold paint was applied on to the Pim Yai Neua Khaow after the insertion of the takruk A total of 2000 pieces of Pra Khun Paen Phong Plaai Gumahn Pim Yai was created and chanted, consisted of Pim Yai with Sahligah Dtagru and Pim Yai without Sahligah Dtagru. Pim Yai with Sahligah Dtagru has around 200 pieces; some have a pair of Sahligah Dtagru and some have only one Sahligah Dtagru.Pim Lek has 5000 pieces, but without Sahligah Dtagru at all. There are around 20 pieces of Pim Lek which used the Wahn Mahahsene powder and Wahn Dtocktorng powder. These are special powder and are hard to find, especially the Wahn Dtorng material. The colour of Wahn Dtocktorng is light yellow in colour. The Wahn Dtocktorng Pim Lek is the best among all the other powder of this batch of Pra Khun Pae, as it believes that this Wahn Dtocktorng Pim Lek produces that best Metta, but it is hardest to find and most expensive.
When Luang Poo Tim was giving out this batch of amulet, Luang Poo would give Pim Yai to the male devotees and Pim Lek to the female devotees.
Luang Poo Tim ever mentioned to his close disciple, that this batch of Pra Khun Paen is very good and will be hard to find in the future. What Luang Poo said 20 over years ago comes true now, because it is hard to find a genuine Pra Khun Paen either Pim Yai or Pim Lek now. If someone wants to find a genuine piece now, it is very very hard.
In the past, not many people took an interest in this Pra Khun Paen, even as Luang Poo Tim himself gave them out personally..The Pim Yai cost only 20 bahts and Pim Lek 10 bahts at that time. But now, a Pim Yai costs above a few 10,000 bahts to 100,000 bahts for a genuine piece in good condition. Pim Lek is not cheap as well, at least costs a few 10.000 bahts also. When people has good experiences while wearing this Pra Khun Paen, they related their experiences to other people. That is why this Pra Khun Paen became so popular and is in high demands because of the many good experiences that have happened to the wearers. Many people are curious, besides Pra Khun Paen Plaai Gumahn, what other batches of amulets that Luang Poo Tim chanted so far had added with the Phong Plaai Guman. Besides this batch of Pra Khun Paen, there are many other batches of amulets that were added this Phong Plaai Gumahn. They are, Pra Nangpayah batch, Pra Plaai Buar, Pra Plaai Pekt, Pra Chimplee(also called Pra Mahahseewaleetheroh), Pra Pidta, Pra Somdej and Pra Kring Chinabahnchorn.
Every batches of the amulet mentioned are added with the Phong Plaai Guman powder. As for Pra Kring Chinabahnchorn, the Phong Plaai Guman was added below the amulet.Once, his disciple Kon Gulahp asked Luang Poo Tim why Luang Poo has to use the skull of the dead child for making amulets. Luang Poo Tim answered him that:"Really is the skull of a spirit and not the skull of a child because this child has not been born yet. This child still has bad karma, which caused him to die before he is born. Thus when we used the skull to make amulets, it is to help the spirit of this child to have good merits. When one uses the amulet with his skull's Phong (powder), and has good experiences and protects him, this is like a merit for the child because he has helped the person who wears this amulet made of his skull's Phong.
This merit gained will help the dead child to re-incarnate a good birth in his next life"Luang Poo explained further:"When we plant a tree, we want to eat the fruits quickly. This is similiar to wearing amulet; when we wear amulet, we want the amulet to have merits and power to help us and protect us.
When one wears this Pra Khun Paen Plaai Gumahn, the merits will come from Buddha and the power will come from the Plaai Guman."Therefore, Pra Khun Paen Plaai Guman has lots of stories of good experiences from the people who wear it always.

Re: Thai Amulets...

hi Bros,

wanna share a experience i had with KMT. well... not actually what i have encounter but what i have saw. this yr Jan, i was in bkk looking for a lady friend of mine. on 1 nite out, she brought along a 'katoy' (ladyboy) friend of her. we went for a few round of drinks and pub hopping. lastly, we settle down for supper. after makan, the katoy wish to treat us and she (she is post-op) ask the waiter for the bill. after paying the $ to the waiter and as the waiter is walking alway, she suddenly shout to the waiter to bring another dessert and a red fanta. i was surprised and i ask my friend that wow! she can really eat. my friend smile and say 'her son wanna eat 1'. ??? at 1st i dun really understand and finally, my friend told me that katoy's KMT wanna eat and the KTM like red things. the dessert is red also. i ask the Katoy to let me see her KMT. at 1st she refused but in the end, she bring out from her handbad 2 KMT. 1 is a small golden KMT and another small like... test tube with some weird stuff in it with some yellow water.

The Katoy drives us home and she went back home herself. at home, my friend told me that her have many encounters with this Katoy's KMT at her house or even while traveling in her car. she can feel someone else in the car sometimes.

This Katoy is not really very pretty, not bad looking but i must say she has this kinda of strange attraction when looking at her. this katoy have a farang husband who gives her $ every month a buy her house and buy her car and even give her $ to study english. btw, this farang knows she is post-op. my friend told me this katoy is very into... this kinda 'act'. she use to travel to really remote places for rituals to make people attracted to her at sight.

well.. this is all i have to share for now. but on this same trip, my friend brought me to the famous 'nang nak' (the movie) shrine. outside the nang nak shrine is a Wat (duno the name of the Wat) that has a REAL dead body of a baby for praying. she told me this baby is very famous in thailand and have many story. she herself have encounter something the 1st time she is there. well... any bro knows about this? i forgot the name of this baby is like ..... XXX ka nong... something like that. will tell u guys about this baby maybe tomorrow.

cheers
