Hi bros in the HCM thread...

I am going to HCMC to recce....

Poss to meet the bros there when i do go (currently plans to go in May)... of course wld also cheong there with u guys too.

I truly applaud the people of vietnam. After visiting HCM, my perspective on vietnam change completely. Like many others, I dont have high and good thoughts of them in the past. Having gone thru wars for so many years, and seeing their very positive hardworking attitude, they are the next rising sun.

I do share the same sentiments as you. before i went to Vietnam, i have an impression that its a war torn country where the people live in poverty. Upon arriving in Vietnam some years back, my idea of them changed drasticially. They are much better than what we thought.

As for positive working attitude, i do want to voice some disagreement on that. In terms of productivity, they are still some distance from the developed countries. Maybe they are very much used to the communist system, they are really a bit lazy.

The Vietnam govt's positive attitude in attracting investments is something that's good for the country. Its surely the next rising country in the region. Singaporeans just need to look beyond the shore of changi. The world is not singapore and singapore doesn't set the standards in the region nor world.

That is what i have been hearing from frens..... That's also why i wld like to chk out the country for economic opportunities.

agree...very tough...been there, done that...now just keep my tourist status. Still have some passive investments there that give pretty decent returns...

people lah...if you hit the right one, you hit jackpot. Most of my frens kana jia lak jia lak from their gf or wife there...

I do agree that doing business in Vietnam is not easy. Singaporeans and other foreigners do reply a lot on locals for assistance in business, but the locals are not always friendly or to be trusted. Even to the extend when one has master the vietnamese language, it still doesn't make life much easier.

But on the other hand, setting up and running of business is surely much cheaper than singapore. The huge market is already a plus point. Overheads are much lower as compared to Singapore.

If doing business is easy, then most people will not want to be employees already
