There was not much to mention that rest off the day, we chatted and laughed at my home. And in the late afternoon, I walked them to the respective station and terminals.

Ah Kai paged me in the evening, and I returned his call.

Ah Kai: Eh Yang, got chance to make money ah.

Me: Yah lor, 10 dollars per hour.

Ah Kai: The work how? Hard to do or not?

Ah Kai agreed, and we hung up. I left Jane a voicemail passing Ah Kai's number to her, I thought I was helping both sides and did not think deep into it.

I went to bed early that night, I need to wake up at 3am to wait for Christina's call. I set my alarm and went to bed, there was nothing much I was thinking about and all was peaceful. I closed my eyes and Zzzzzz.

I jumped off my bed, as my alarm clock rang. (I was a sound sleepy and one that can snooze till the cows come home, I had to place my alarm clock on the shelf and make myself get up to press it.)

I was 245am, I barely slept. I went out and took the cordless phone sitting on my bed, yawning, soon I laid sideways looking at the phone. And my eyes got heavy I almost drifted to dreamland.

It rang and I shook myself awake, grabbing to phone and picking it up.

It was a soft voice that I missed, it was Christina.

Christina: Hello?

Me: yah, me lah sorry last week I too tired.

Christina: Yah, I was scolded by your dad. I was still thinking if I should call again.

Me: Heng (lucky) ah, you got call.

Christina: I think it is it tough for you.

Me: why you heart pain ah?

Christina: No, I mean for you to wake up just to pickup my call. ( it was very tiring, maybe I loved sleeping more)

Me: but no choice mah.

Christina's way of talking changed, there seem to be a difference. Her voice was the same but the tone was different and to me, it felt distant. We decided to talk for another week and she gave me her address for me to write to her, yes, we decided to use writing rather than calls, as Christina thinks I was able to tell her more that way ( it was true, on the phone she was the one mainly talking and I was only listening, most of the time I answered her was with stupid jokes)

It was a short call, as Christina heard me yawning and asked me to go rest.

I hung up with her with my eyes closed, I did not take me long to return to sleeping mode.

Yang, no need to go school ah!

It was my Father, I woke up in shock and it was 645am. I hurried and washed up, I ran to the bus stop and only reached seeing my bus leaving. And by the time I reached school, the morning Assembly has already started. I was late and I had no choice but to use the hole in the fence to avoid detention.

I walked to the back of the school, it was wet as I walk through the taller grasses and looking for the hole, it was mended and I could not find a new one. After 10 mins I gave up. And I decided is would wait time morning assembly was over to climb the side gate in.

I waited at the bus stop till morning assembly was over, I loitered by the side gate ensuring there was no one around. I held on the diagonal bars of the gate and made my way up, but midway over the gate some one called to me asking what was I doing.

It was Gloria was skinny and she was the kind of girl that will tie her long hair all the way back, for a short period, Gloria had been the talk of the school. Why? She from a flat chest girl had breast with was deem to be one of the biggest in the school, there were rumors of tissue stuffing and silly things but I did not bother. The only thing bothering me not is she is a Prefect, she was in the same level as me, and we were from the same house. I spoke to her a couple of times before, and yes she was on duty that day.

I asked her to let me get down first asking her to move a side, I balanced my myself and made a leap to the ground.

Gloria: Bus pass......

Me: Eh give chance leh, you so on for what.

Gloria: if you don't give it to me, it's ok I will still write your name down.

Me: cannot help meh?

Gloria: No..

I shook my head and handed her my bus pass, I was sure I did not see anyone at the side gate how did she catch me.

Me handing over my bus pass: Eh where were you ah, how come I never see you.

Gloria pointed at the way from the basketball court: I was going back from there. (I was really suay)

Gloria said she will pass the detention slip and my bus pass to me later. and I return to my class, having this thought in my mind: "Knn now have to go detention, I should not have come."

The first class of the day ended, and Gloria came looking for me. The class was filled with wahs.... And wolf whistles as she walked to my seat returning my Bus Pass. She walked away briskly and there was no conversation, I took my bus pass and realized there was no detention slip? Thinking she may have forgotten to pass it to me I chased after her and another wave of cheers from my classmates was heard. (I never liked prefects, and if kena detention and you tell the discipline master the prefect did not give you the slip. Who you think he will believe)

I ran and manage to get to Gloria before she entered her classroom.

Me: Eh detention slip leh?

Gloria: no need to go detention, I never report.

She walked into her class, and I never thought much about it I was only happy I need not go for detention.

Ah Kai came to me and asked me to go for a smoke break, and we went to our smoking toilet.

Kai: Eh Yang, the god sis you talk about is Gloria ah.

Me: No lah....

Kai: tell me lah, I won't tell Stephanie one.

Me: No lah, don't anyhow say. I today late lah Knn the hole covered. Then I climb gate lor, get caught by her.

Kai: Wah Lao ask me lah, the new hole at technical block there.

Me: how I know lah, but heng she cover for me, don't need go detention.

Kai: Wah, so good ah.

I never thought much about it as I never really looked at girls in the school, and except for Ah Kai, no one really knew about my personal life, I guess I was more a private person.

Me: Eh Kai, Jane got page you bo?

Kai: got lah, but same lor $10 per hour.

Me: you doing?

Kai: I tell her I try one day first this Friday then see how.

Me: ok lor.

We carried on smoking and went back to class after that, there was nothing much but after the lesson before recess, someone came to my table.
