I booked the taxi at the airport counter and paid VND 75,000...somemore no air-con... I think can go outside near the arrival area to flag down a taxi which is air-con..

well...i heard that those who pay more than that is becos they go thru agent....but i think that is crap....

Yes, it is true that passport application is only 200k VND for a Vietnamese. She has to see to the document procedures herself.

Those who said were going thr. an agent may be true 2 as these gals know nothing about governement ministry and don't even know how to fill a simple application form, some don't even know where to apply. These are the new gals we usually find in JC ... haha ...

If you have time and with light luggage... you can always try the local Bus #152 just outside the airport to D1 and have stop at BT market... cost you only 2000VND = S$0.20

... when did we have bus ride for 20cts maybe 30yrs ago

Yes, the standard fee is 200K VND, and you can wait for ages for the passport to come out. The standard fee cannot assure you that the passport comes out at the expected time of 3 weeks. I applied for passport for my maid 3 months ago at 200K VND, and its not ready yet. So the rule is simple, you want the passport fast and you want to be sure it comes out.. US$100 to US$150 is necessary.

Will be in HCM from 14 May to 21 May. Hope to meet some of the bros here at HCM for meal, e.g. bros SingViet, euphoria777, CPTMiller, Sha_gua777 etc.

I have read thru and compiled all the 171 pages with all the highlights. Take me a long times.....however I had a question to ask here....

Where is the recommend place (in SIN or HCM) to change money ... e.g. from SIN dollars to VN dong....or SIN dollars to US dollars, and US dollars to VN dong....

the hotel charges 8usd for airport pick up

try flagging one at the airport.

even if they speak english, beware that they will try to rip you off anyways.

i suggest writing and/or printing your address beforehand.

You can easily change Singapore dollars to Vietnam Dong in HCM City. Money changers are everywhere
