dun think the bird flu should be a major problem unless it's out of control and wide spread ...

anyway the happening is in the north ... nearer to Hanoi ...
HCM city should be quite safe at this moment ...

when i was in HCM last wk ... the death toll was 10 and everyone act like normal ...
u see chicken ... i mean 2 legged chicken ... everywhere and ppl are taking it with their meal ...

so i reckon it's safe ...

anyway prevention is better than cure ...
just be careful ...

Correction to what Bro Chinaboy has said...
Most birdflu deaths occur in the South, in the Me#### Delta. So far only one case in Hanoi, which the authorities is investigating whether its a case of human-to-human transmission.

Although life seems to be normal here, some restaurants have stopped selling poultry and pple that I talk to also generally avoid eating them.

So just be careful, avoid handling live or dead poultries and you should be ok.

Having said that, i have checked that the other kind of "chickens" are not affected and confirmed safe to partake....so dun worry.....carry on please...hahaha.

Que Huong requires the gal to check in at the front desk else cannot ..... rooms @25-35 USD range ....

I prefer Dai Hoang Kim 2 at Bui Vien, rooms @12USD and gals friendly.

its located to the left of que huong 4, it looks like a bloody boring joint in the early part of nite but as midnight approaches, the party begins ....

people start to flood the place after 12, the place seems to have a lot of FL & locals as well as a handful of tourist.... the party does not stop till early part of the morning ...... the last time i went i left @3am and the party still on .....

talking about it .... my friend was joking that in lounge, bar and karaoke joints are free of SARS because SARS cannot survive in these areas ...
that's why u have never hear about ppl getting SARS virus in these areas ...
maybe it work for bird flu too .....
the virus died of suffocation from the cigratte smoke .....ha, ha ...

take 4 example, even if a foreignor wanna pay a visit to a local house, technically need to report police else its consider illegal .....

It was interesting reading your contributions, but i have to correct certain things. It is alright for a foreigner to visit a local family and there is no need to register with the police of your local ward. Things will be different if the foreigner plans to stay there OVERNIGHT for a period longer than a few days. If its longer than a few days, the local ward police will require the foreigner to register with them. Actually this rule also applies to vietnamese who doesn't belong to that household and plans to stay there for a long time.
Each family has a HOUSEHOLD REGISTER, and it depict the particulars of the family members. In simple terms, anyone NOT IN THE HOUSEHOLD REGISTER and plans to stay for longer than a few days NEED TO REGISTER WITH THE LOCAL WARD POLICE.

As for your party joint that operates till early morning, its almost impossible to find it now. Its illegal for night joints to operate after midnight. Even if they do operate, most will try to close by 2am. Heavy Fines are imposed on operators of night joints that break the rules nowadays.
