You are right, without bro deptrai and carrot , Hanoi is not as fun! Nothing has changed much in Hanoi hotel. The special package of all you can drink including ladies drinks and her sitting fee is still at usd 48++. There are still 150 girls to choose from. The difference is now the girls are asking for 100 usd for ST and 150 usd for LT.

Sakura at Cat Linh street, that place spoilt by many Singaporeans and Taiwanese already. Girls there usually from the South, keep asking for VND500k tips ... etc.. a whole load of rubbish!

What is the reason for better rates in HCMC than Hanoi? Just curious, isn't it same when u change SGD to USD, u lugi. Then in Vietnam, u change from USD to VND, u lugi again, why not use SGD to change to VND?

This has been the case for many years, mainly due to international economics ....

Rates in hanoi is not as good as hcmc due to the lack of in-flows ....most of the vb is from the south and thus bulk of foreign exchange goes to hcmc ....

i do agreed... i was there running out of Dongs... i went to a few exchangers, they either gave bad rates (1SGD : 15500 VD) or dont accept SGD...

When I was working in Hanoi, there is a street, I forget the street name, Hang something, Deptrai will remember which has a lot of currency exchange shops... their rates are competitive, just like Ben Thanh in HCMC. There r also other gold shops in Hanoi, like Cau giau which do exchange. SGD is never a problem in Vietnam but I dunno the situation now. SGD is considered the most welcome currency in this region.

I have not compare changing SGD to VND at the same day for 2 different cities. Definitely there will good and bad rates in different cities different shops.

The rates are the same for both hanoi and hcmc if u know where to go and change. The street naemlo mentioned is Ha Trung. But things has changed a bit....they only change for people they know.

its ba trieu near hai ba trung intersection. money changers supposedly all outlawed and all foreign currency will need to be changed in the bank now. don't get caught changing foreign money by cong an - all money will be chong gong..

Why don't you guys change at the bank? Unlike the old days, now the bank rate and black market rate are very similar. For example, if you go to Sacombank, the rate is 1SGD = 16504 for today. I always change the money there and deposit it into my account directly. Therefore, I can use my ATM card to withdraw cash.
