Re: thai baht rate update

Let me clarify about withdrawing from Thai banks with a Thai bank ATM card.
Thailand is a big country. So much bigger than what we normal frog in a well Sinkies can imagine. So if u managed to open a Thai bank account good for you but plz remember that there are charges. IT'S NOT FREE like some bro said here.

Example... U open a Kaaikorn Bank account in BANGKOK. Any Kasikorn bank ATM in Bangkok u withdraw from is free. BUT if u travel to another province and withdraw from the same bank ATM there is A CHARGE about Bht20-30 per withdrawal.

UOB THAI and UOB SINKIEPOR. I was a UOB Sinkie account holder. When I withdrew from Thai UOB ATM there was a charge. It was no different from any foreign bank even if it was the same company. THIS NEEDS VERIFICATION. Best call UOB Sinkiepor to confirm!

Bros,

If you have a CIMB bank account in SG, you can use your ATM card to withdraw from CIMB Thai ATM Machines without any additional withdrawal service charge. Your withdrawal will only be subjected to the usual bank forex rate for that day.

This is the same if you withdraw ringgit at CIMB Malaysia ATM or rupiah at CIMB Indonesia ATM.

The only problem is that the CIMB ATM network outside Malaysia is quite small. Not easy to find in Thailand, Indonesia or SG.

Forget about UOB or DBS. Even if you use your UOB or DBS SG ATM card at an overseas UOB / DBS ATM Machine, you will still get charged the additional withdrawal service fee.

There is no benefit and its like the same fees you get charged if you withdraw from a KBank or Siam Commercial ATM Machine.

Hi Bro Sojo,

Then I think as Bro Indianmagicoil has said, better to call UOB SG to verify lor as he also kena pay the service charge.

Personally I never use my UOB Singapore ATM Card to withdraw in Thailand before but I did use it before at UOB Malaysia ATM (in JB) and still had to pay the service charge for withdrawal.

The only one I know for sure no service charge is CIMB. I used in BKK once and a few times in Malaysia also. No extra charges so far.

Unless they changed something since aug 2013, the 150 baht fee is not incurred. So far the rates have been decent as well, definitely can't beat those superriches.

http://www.uob.com.sg/personal/ebank...ional_faq.html

click on Q15.

If in doubt call them.

I agree with that too..... dunno why others here say they were charged?
Both my SG UOB cards can be used in LOS without any fees charged.... except for the forex conversion rate.
The UOB cards I use is -
a) UOB ATM card linked to my current account; and
b) UOB Platinum credit/debit card.

For the benefit of all bros here... I just called the UOB hotline at +65 6222 2121 to verify....the CSO confirm that ALL UOB cards DO NOT have to pay any service fees for making cash withdrawals from UOB ATM machines in Malaysia, Indonesia & Thailand. This only applies to withdrawals made at UOB ATMs in these 3 countries. Withdrawals made with UOB cards at other banks have to pay the service fee.

Hope that clarifies it for everyone.
