Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips
Ponson Island is the farthest east of the Camotes Islands, closest to the neighboring island of Leyet. The only town on Ponson is Pilar, best known for its nostalgic ancestral house. Constructed of wood, this house dates to the colonial era.
Accommodation on Ponson is basic and low-key, consisting mostly of rental houses, beach bungalows and a few proper hotels. The best places dominate spacious tracts of white-sand beach and offer limited facilities. Most visitors don't stay on Ponson Island, but visit as part of a chartered island-hopping tour revealing historical sites, mangrove forests, caves and secluded beaches along the way. The bulk of the Camotes attractions are on the Poro and Pacijan islands, which are more accessible and connected by a paved road. Travel to Ponson Island - Getting There Getting to the Camotes requires boarding a boat from either Cebu or Leyte, and travel time can take as little as 45 minutes or as long as 4 hours depending on the speed of the vessel. The easiest way to get in and out is through Cebu, home to the second-largest international airport in the Philippines. http://www.traveldojo.com/ponson-island/ Access to the island is by boat. There are daily boats from mainland Cebu to Camotes Island. E.B. Aznar Shipping: The travel time is a leisurely 4 hours on a clean and comfortable large boat. The boat docks at Poro Island port. You can board on this boat at Pier 2 in Cebu. The Aznar boat leaves daily at 9:00pm from Cebu and arrives in Camotes Island at 1:00am. From Camotes Island, the boat leaves at 11:00am and arrives in Cebu City at 3:00pm. Fares from Cebu to Camotes Island and vice versa: Tourist: P280.00 pesos Economy: P220.00 However, if you miss this boat, you will have to travel north of Cebu to Danao City, which is about an hours’ drive north of Cebu. There are other smaller outrigger boats, which takes you to the island, in 2.5 or 3 hours depending on the sea’s temperament. This is not the most comfortable ride, but i can sure you, a very interesting one. You will have an opportunity to sit next to chickens, cows, and pigs,, and people retching out of nausea, and motionsickness ! Pumpboats to Camotes Island: From Ouano Wharf, Mandaue City daily at 1:00pm/ Fare: P200.00 From Danao City to Camotes Island/ Fare: P 180.00 From Ormoc, Leyte to Tudela, Camotes Island: Pumpboats departs at 09:00AM and 01:00PM Travel Time – 3 hrs. A typical outrigger boat Light and Water The two major sources of lighting is power and kerosene which are utilized by 43.9% and 55.5% of the sample house holds, respectively. Common source of water on the island is the community water system consisting of public faucets and individual (private faucets), at 40.6% and 23.8% respectively. Around 16.1% indicate tube/pipe well as a source of water; a 0.3% dug wells; and 5.2% spring. A 220V. The power depends on Camotes Electric Cooperative (CELCO) that energizes the mainland Camotes spring water by gravity. Jetmatic and deepwell pumps are great source of water. Some parts of the island, don’t have water supply. They keep big water container jars and collect rain water during the rainy season. http://mingsworld.com/about-camotes-island Last edited by The Lord; 20-11-2011 at 02:06 PM. |

Travelling to ulu places has a charm of its own. That's why I been away from Angeles on most of my travels to the Philippines. When I first visited AC in 2005, I would tell myself I be crazy to waste any time being anywhere else. After a few years, the magic dies off and I started travelling to ulu places. Only yesterday I bought a ticket for Mnl to Calbayog for Dec 8, cutting short my time with datou in Angeles for his December trip. Gong to ulu place is an experience of it's own. Don kick it till you tried it. My hats off to etsys, you have so much words of wisdom in guiding me in my decisions regarding the filipina. My Lord, I have little to teach you. I am all ears to your words and your posts.

Don just buy 20. Buy 200 and some of different designs. Sell half to me. It's very cheap in China. My earrings I bought in Tacloban, origin China, cost me only 2p each.

The reason I am going to Pilar is we have managed to establish contact with the descendants of one of the more infamous and notorious pirate leader that terrorised our shipping lanes back in the late 1890s to early 1920s. This pirate leader had such a reputation that even the naval ships of the British empire escorting the cargo vessels would make a detour around the seas these pirates were known to operate to avoid a confrontation with them. |

My forays into place like Batanes, Bacolod, Palawan, PG, Romblon, Dumeguete, and Tugegarao made me lot of friends .. let's say I went to visit them with bonking last thing on my mind ? but bonking was bonus Sometimes I had a partner go along all the way, sometime, met there 'on-site' And re: Batanes, my flight Manila to Batanes cost me more than Singapore to Manila .. no kidding .. but worth it .. place of serenity .. and no malls, no karaoke, no bar .. so myself and my friend had 'lot of things' to do other than get drunk and slob off .. Oh, the second time I flew to Batanes, I became wiser : I roughed it 10 hour in bus to Laoag and took cheaper plane As I been saying, away from AC / Manila, you are less likely to be scam by occasional scam artist (of course, if you hook the wrong girl, you end up financing the whole barangay .. LOL) One step at a time .. and always remember, you are doing a lot to promote Philippines Tourism when you venture out to other place, place other than my boring Boracay, Manila, AC .. but again, don't go other place if only bonking is top requirement .. Oh, a lot of friends been in Cebu and swear that is a good place for bonking .. and .. so .. but alas, never had chance to venture there, and so is Davao - a lot too say Davao is the place to be .. PS: Take a leaf out of Ninja Assasins' note book: He is doing a great service for the sake of "research" like a friend quoted me that I spend more time in Cultural exchange than body fluid exchange, my answer is the same -> with body fluid exchange, you get bored after while when you only do poking. Throw in cultural exchange and you can be really contended ..

Forbidden fruit is always sweeter. Kampung durian is better then R&D durian. I also agree that the bonking is better down south. Maybe thanks to the Americans when they fathered many children with the locals during WW2. The girls are taller and the colour is similar to the Eurasians in Singapore.

You missed my word "bonking" comes with a question marked "?" if mongering means so much,I would be concentrating on AC,Cebu n Manila. And stick to a person who is going to these places n I hav not tried Cebu n Manila yet. Why would i risk going to a place i hv never heard of or mentioned in the forum? There r only 2 things for wanting to go these places. Firstly ZIEBART is such a nice guy to be with n we hav many things in common. Secondly just wanna explore new places. If i want cultural values, thousands of years of them in China n every place has it's own symbolic legends. |

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips
Z: I thought down south girls were fairer due to Magellan and his team and the Spanish were screwing every woman in sight (or so the girls there think, as all claim to be descendant of Portuguese or Spanish with Portuguese or Spanish blood .. )
And trust me on this one, I will say Yes, it is perfectly true, and add my blood too to the cocktail, I am a sucker when it comes to adding my genes to such mixed blood
