Because prostitution is not illegal in Singapore, local FLs cannot be prosecuted for performing sex work if they do not actively solicit for business in the open.

Does advertising sexual services on the Internet constitute solicitation? That seems like an interesting question and a genuine grey area. Many of our laws cannot cope with the rapid changes in technology and the traditional meaning of solicitation is associated with actual street-walking and propositioning. Unless the laws are amended to include online solicitation the answer to the question raised in this paragraph is probably "no".

Could they however be charged for not paying taxes from their earnings? Probably not because some people such as hawkers and tutors do not declare their incomes, and therefore do not pay taxes too.

From my (amateur) perspective at least, local FLs may continue to do what they do without much fear of flouting the law.

local fl even more scared than foreign fl cos their face shown on tv even more recognized by her family relatives friends etc....cant' imagine how they can continue to live locally if kena caught...sigh...still like the old days...

av will have records of particulars of all who used transit hotels with the new regulations implemented for hotels' checking-in.

av will therefore have the local fls records of their 'frequent' hotels visits. don't u think they will sure to query more if the fls say boy/girl friend or ons relationship? they are not stupid leh.

Hi Filia, for local FL, also difficult for AV to prove anything cos unless they see you soliciting for business then they basically have no case, after all the law did state that it is not an offense to prostitute. You should be more afraid of the tax dept rather, cos of undeclared income but then again, our so call moral gov wouldn't want to earn such money. If they do then they no different from OKT.

Bro like I said what can they do even if they know that these local FLs are prostitute, there is no crime committed. As long as these FLs don't operate a website advertising them, that is as good as solicitation. Other then that, what case have they against them? Well perhaps IRAS and HPB, for the former, reason is obvious while HPB is more concern on controlling the spread of STD related diseases.

Anyway bro its bad enough that the playing field is shrinking no thanks to these AV, so we won't want it to shrink any further by scaring off our local gals.

Well, certain hotels just check the colour of the girl's card (assuming it's the guy who checks in). There are others who take down details of the card as well, unfortunately.

Anyway sis Filia just corrected my text, what I meant is the gov WOULDN'T want to tax prostitute cos that is considered immoral earnings. Even the legal houses are not tax for their earnings.

AV can pose as customer to see any money transaction involve (it happens before). So there is still a certain amount of risk involve for local self-employ FL, it always pays to be more careful.

In the first place if AV offers money that means FL committed no crime, they are not soliciting. Its different if they set a trap to catch drug traffickers cos trafficking drugs is AGAINST THE LAW. It is crime. Earning a living as a prostitute is not. The law has already stated this. And the gov can only do their part by warning people who patronized unlicensed prostitute on the risk of STD. But they are not going to charge anyone just because they are found with STD.

1) if a woman advertsie her services no matter by what means - she is soliciting and is against the law.

2) if I approach a woman and tell her that I pay for her services, she is not soliciting but she prositute herself - she is ok

3) my fb is a prc with a proper work permit. We go to the same transit everytime. The hotel staff knows us. I know her particulars and she knows mine. If happen to have a check by AV, are we, or she in any trouble?

3a) will she and me still have to up lorry first or after taking down particulars and no need to up lorry?

soon they will have to record down the particulars. it will no longer be enough to just flash and show the recep. it's garmen regulation. not implemented yet, but it will be soon.

being an fl or a prostitute is not an offence. but providing sexual services in a hotel is an offence. that i am sure. av is not dumb. it's just that they are yet to target local independent fls. but one day maybe....they are hitting the syndicates or okts first.

Well if you are both able to collaborate each other info and further more she has a work permit nothing wrong with having a bf right...the law only states that WP holders are not allowed to marry locals...didn't say cannot fall in love..

Sex work is not an offence, no matter where it takes place so long as no solicitation can be proved.

What is forbidden is for someone to permit a hotel to be used for sex work. Here the person responsible is not the sex worker but the owner / manager of the establishment.
