If I am not mistaken, viagra patent has or soon to be expired, thus opening the gates to generic manufacturing. But the relevant authorities have determined that allowing generics to proliferate and available OTC in Singapore would cause "social problems" - for obvious reasons! You will see the elderly men all go wild!!

Generics are already available. And yes I get prescription from polyclinic doctor and bought from hospital pharmacy.

Generics are so much cheaper and the pharmacists told me its the same just no brand.

Like Paracetamol but not Panadol brand.

Actually I cannot quite believe nobody here know about it but before I went polyclinic, I also do not know

And same result at least for me.

Fyi, pharmacies in JB are now required to ask for doctor's prescription before dispensing certain category of medicines..... which includes ED drugs. Unless you have been a regular customer to that pharmacy.... I think now most pharmacies do ask to see prescription if you are a new walk in customer.

However, buying from a pharmacy may not necessary mean you get the real Mc-coy...

This is a real life incident which happened a couple of years ago to a samster. He had been buying Cialis from a pharmacy along Jln WAF regularly..... until the directive that prescription must be sighted & scanned before medication is dispensed. Because he had been buying from them previously..... the pharmacist felt bad about not being able to sell to him as he does not have any prescription. She ask the sales assistant to buy a pack from the roadside vendor and passed that off as legit stuff to the samster.

Unfortunately, this was discovered during an audit and cctv footage had recorded the transaction. Under investigation, both the cashier and the sales assistant admitted to occasionally passing off medication sourced from the roadside vendors to customers without prescriptions.

The last time I visited this pharmacy..... they had a new team of staff. I heard the previous pharmacist was suspended and both the cashier & sales assistant kenna buang kerja. I believe this is a common practice amongst the various pharmacies as they do not want to lose customers without prescriptions..... and the chance of getting caught is extremely low.

So some people say that if you are lucky, you get a male doctor during consultation, so it's less awkward. But at the end of the day, when you get your meds, it's still going to be dispensed by some syt pharmacist! (most pharmacists happen to be syt)

Couple yrs ago i got piles. Went to consult a doctor. On duty two doctors and both female. I was quite embarrass and just showed her my piles fm my hp. But she still wish (need to) to examine my anus.
