I'm not sure which bar you're talking about because I haven't seen any where girls wear bikinis yet (but am quite curious to find out!). Can you provide more info -- which street it was on? The typical situation in one of the Hai Ba Trung bars (there are about a dozen scattered around -- it's probably one of those you saw) is you pay for the girl's drink at 50,000 VND, if you buy a beer for yourself it's 30,000 or so. Another thing, if the girl who first approaches you is not to your liking, it's standard in these places to instead pick the one you want. They often will turn up the lights and get the girls to line up for your choosing.

I stopped in at Bar 91 on HBT last night and lots of new ones in there - some quite nice. I saw at least 3 who were nearly as tall as me (1.8m). That's the one of those bars with the most girls and the prettiest.

I think its a combination of both. Massage places here do not offer specials. At the most you get a HJ or BJ. and not all places will provide it.
