in my view, jessica looks much better than last year's big bobbie winner... she has a very nice smile and sparkling eyes that caught my attention in the bikini trailers that was showing for the past weeks..

no comments on her answers in the competition as I did not manage to catch the show..

but seriously, the standard of the competition has really dropped... wait a min.. it wasn't high in the first place!!! ha ha ha..

some of the contestants really CMI... if you go to a SPA and the captain sent one to you, u will probably request for a change!!!! ha ha ha..

Read today's life, she is rich and dating a pilot who bought her a Bvlgari for her birthday, I have buddies who know her and she doesn't really give a good impression, a bit like the interested in rich bf sort.

Well, at least the bf can say he has banged Miss Singapore...haha

Its such a gala event that its "Guest Star" is none other than the Singapore Idol losing finalist ( forgot his name sorry ) ..

Thats how much emphasis TCS5 put into this show

The tread title reads "Miss Singapore Universe 2007". It was telecast live for everyone on the island, Johor and some say Batam to watch. As you can read my earlier post you can see most of us pin-point and shortlisted the prettiest of the lot. True to the fact, she won. To home in the point, the lass won not one but in two different categories. So what does that tell us or better yet what does that tell the organisers? Simply put Miss Universe is about beauty on the outside. Yes, inner beauty is also beauty but please dont forget 1st impression is what counts. Infact 1st impression is THE main point here. Whats the point having a girl that turn off the guys up there? Dont get me wrong, I believe god creation is wonderful and beautiful but its meant for the eye of the beholder. What that means is one man's meat is another man's poison.

Okay, since I touch based on man's meat and poison. Lets home in on what Miss Universe is really about before we go further.

Miss Universe in a nutshell
The Miss Universe beauty contest has been held since 1952 (not to be confused with the similar Miss World). Founded by California clothing company Pacific Mills to showcase its Catalina swimwear brand, it became part of Kayser-Roth and then Gulf and Western Industries. In 1996 Donald Trump acquired ownership of the pageant, then being broadcast by CBS; in 2003 the television rights went to NBC.

The main Miss Universe Pageant, as of now, is held over a two week period between May-July. In the 1970s through the 1990s, the pageant was a month-long extravaganza. This allows time for rehearsals, appearances and the preliminary competition, with the winner being crowned by the previous year's titleholder during the final competition. According to the organisers, the Miss Universe contest is more than a beauty pageant: women who aspire to become Miss Universe must be intelligent, well-mannered and cultured.

The contestants were judged in swimsuit and evening gown. The contestants also competed in a preliminary interview round in a one-on-one meeting with each individual judge.

So what did I learn. Miss Universe is a beauty pageant and also its more than just beauty. What our organisers fail to understand is that the pageant is 1st and foremost a beauty pageant and WITHIN the shortlisted beauties we seek the best that comes with intelligence, well-mannered and well cultured. In lay-man terms beauty 1st (read the coloured text that I highlighted, its a sentence-level punctuation) than only we talk about the other factors.

Lets make this thread constructive. Hopefully one of the samster is actually one of the ruling member of the Miss Universe pageant.

1) Miss Universe is a BEAUTY CONTEST. Whatever you are looking, 1st impression counts. That 1st impression is looks than body, only than you check out other attributes the lady has. If the organisers have problem defining beauty than get at lease two 18-year old teenage boys in the panel before getting senior panel (ladies especially) question the shortlisted.

2) Problem getting nice looking contestant? Please read our threads on Singapore woman and their wants. Take this logic for instance, if you hang a 'carrot' in front of the donkey chances are it will move towards it. Do a Vanna White gazettes on TV way, way before the pageant just to highlight on the 'carrot' bit.

3) Getting a girl with mouth that cannot cover her upper teeth is NOT beauty! "Sar Nga" or girls with malocclusions do not belong in beauty contest, they belong to orthodontist.

I have shortlisted three. Thats a good enough start for 2008.

Edit: If the organisers want to harp on inner-beauty than change the pageant to Miss Charisma.
