An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
http://www.tremeritus.com/2013/12/27...-taxi-on-xmas/ A CitiCab driver, Sebastian Leo, lodged a police report yesterday (26 Dec), alleging that he was attacked by a group of “Indian guys” on Christmas Day at about 5.30am. In the report, he stated that he was driving his taxi along Havelock Road. Upon reaching the T-Junction of Magazine Road, he was stopped by a group of “7-8 Indian guys”. Some then tried to board the taxi but the rear passenger doors were locked. Mr Leo then wound down his window to inform them that he can’t pick up passengers at a junction. Also, he told them that he was about to change shift. The group ignored him and continued trying to open the rear door. Frustrated, they then began to kick the taxi and asked Mr Leo to get out. Mr Leo tried to move his taxi but one of the guys was holding on to the taxi front window. Mr Leo then told them that he couldn’t take them. At this point, one of the guys grabbed Mr Leo at his neck and punched him in his face. The rest went berserk and started to throw things at the taxi. All the windows of the taxi was smashed, according to Mr Leo. Mr Leo managed to drive off his taxi and drove to the MOM building where he called the police. The whole incident lasted some 5 minutes. It’s not known if the alleged attackers are locals or foreigners. According to the media, police confirmed about the reported assault. Police said that they are investigating a case involving a taxi driver who claimed he was assaulted by “a group of men” on 25th morning near Magazine Road. Police said they received a call around 5.50am requesting for assistance, and it was established that “a case of dispute” had occurred. The injured Mr Leo was later sent to SGH. Meanwhile, AGC is charging 4 of the 25 Indian foreign workers with additional charges. The 25 are accused of participating in the Little India riot on 8 Dec. The four Indian nationals facing additional charges are: Arumugam Karthik, 24 – said to have flipped over a police car and set fire to a police vehicle Chinnappa Prabakaran, 23 – said to have set fire to an ambulance Bose Prabakar, 29 – said to have assaulted a police officer Moorthy Kabildev, 24 – said to have punched the bus timekeeper The prosecution tendered the additional charges in court this afternoon (27 Dec).
