INVESTIGATIONS REPORT INTO THE CONDITIONS & WELFARE OF THE ANIMALS KEPT CAPTIVE IN DOLPHIN LAGOON AND UNDERWATER WORLD SINGAPORE, SENTOSA (2014)

On 1st July 2014, a member of the public alerted Wildlife Watcher - Singapore and Sea Shepherd about the conditions of the dolphins kept in Dolphin Lagoon at Underwater World Singapore. These are Indo-pacific Humpbacked Dolphins, 4 of which were caught from the wild in 1999 from Thailand.

In collaboration with Wildlife Watcher Singapore, Sea Shepherd launched an investigation into the matter with total of two separate inspections, conducted in the months of July and August 2014.

An investigation report was published by Wildlife Watcher Singapore with Sea Shepherd. Supported by Jakarta Animal Aid Network (JAAN), Animal Friends Jogja [AFJ] & Pramudya Harzani, Coordinator, @[260982463935Ric O'Barry's Dolphin Project] (Indonesia).


An adult female Indo-pacific Humpbacked Dolphin (Sousa chinensis) named “Han” has a visible head and mouth injury with skin problem.



Degrading and deteriorating conditions of dolphin pens/pool for display/exhibit — at Underwater World & Dolphin Lagoon @ Sentosa.


Dolphins are put on display and made to perform despite having serious injuries at Underwater World & Dolphin Lagoon @ Sentosa.

Dolphins and fur seals were made to display and perform unnatural circus acts.
