Another 6 cases of workers in singapore with dubious degrees
An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
http://therealsingapore.com/content/...ubious-degrees ANOTHER 6 CASES OF WORKERS IN SINGAPORE WITH DUBIOUS DEGREES Post date: 22 Apr 2015 - 8:13pm After the IDA fake masters degree saga, concerned netizens have started hunting for more and more of such examples of people working in Singapore with fake degrees. While many examples have been foreigners (Netizens Dig up Even More Foreigners with Questionable Degrees), there was also one Singaporean who had multiple unaccredited or 'bought' degrees. The main issue is probably that it is harder to initially detect examples of false degrees from foreigners as local employers and apparently even MOM and ICA are not familiar with the credible education institutions of the world. For locals, they tend to go for prestigious overseas universities or local ones and so employers are familiar with the institutions. Singaporeans are less likely to get away with 'buying' fake degrees as employers naturally want to know more about why a local has not gone to a local or more prestigious overseas institution so there are more background checks on obscure qualifications. The same curiosity does not apply to foreign job applicants where employers expect them to have qualifications from institutions they probably haven't heard of. However, this is certainly no excuse for the lack of due diligence. Because of the oversights, netizens have taken it upon themselves to expose more fake degree holders. Here are another list of workers found with dubious qualifications: Lee Keng Yew - Senior Service Engineer at Carls Zeiss Singapore. Malaysian FT from Penang working in Singapore for 10 years: It is a big stretch of imagination to believe that a person with only 2 years of engineering education that was not even at a university could suddenly proceed to get a master's degree in just one year. It makes all of us who are studying at NUS and NTU look like fools for wasting so much time. Right after he got his "master's degree", he jumped ship from Malaysia to Singapore and started working in Singapore for a good life. Haha useless SG authorities couldn't even detect his fake degree and hired him without much resistance. Do you think a Malaysian with no degree should be working as an engineer in the Nanotechnology sector? That's one place less for a local with an engineering degree from NUS and NTU. ---- "Dr" Lim Siew Choon - Lecturer at Human Resources Institute (SHRI) "Dr" Lim Siew Choon holds a phD from Vancouver University Worldwide, which is a degree mill as listed in the article here: http://news.asiaone.com/News/Educati...26-182426.html: Even a simple search on wikipedia would have showed that Vancouver University Worldwide is an unaccredited university offering fake degrees to anyone. It is appalling that a government agency such as SHRI is clueless on which degrees are real and which are fake: http://www.shri.org.sg/lecturers-profile/ "Dr" Lim Siew Choon was also awarded the "Lifelong Learners" award by the Workforce Development Agency (WDA): http://www.wda.gov.sg/content/dam/wd...ies_final_.pdf So getting a fake degree is considered Lifelong Learning? Then hard work and the meritocratic principle has been devalued. --- Raghunath Reddy - Strategist at Rappier LinkedIn: https://sg.linkedin.com/in/raghunathreddi Status of Kalinga University as a degree mill: http://www.mynewswatchtimesng.com/li...lls-worldwide/ https://peoplecheck.co.kr:442/resources/down/list01.pdf https://degrees4sale.wordpress.com/2...s-since-1960s/ https://in.answers.yahoo.com/questio...5001349AAnkaQ2 Gerosel Siquian - MD in Travel Agency here LinkedIn: https://sg.linkedin.com/pub/gerosel-siquian/20/ab3/48a This pinoy has a degree from Belford University which is a known degree mill. Sources: https://peoplecheck.co.kr:442/resources/down/list01.pdf http://abcnews.go.com/Business/Perso...ory?id=8322412 http://www.sammyboy.com/archive/index.php/t-79114.html http://diplomamillnews.blogspot.sg/2...unwary_24.html Chin Sian Guan - Works in Production Company Taizhou Sunny Agricultural Machinery Proof his uni is fake: http://news.asiaone.com/News/Educati...26-182426.html): Mr Ron Sim Chye Hock - Advisory Board member of SMU's Lee Kong Chian School of Business. However, he has not one but two honorary degrees from degree mills: Wisconsin International University and the University of Hawaii. Winsconsin International University and University of Hawaii are degree mills as shown by these sources: http://news.asiaone.com/News/Educati...829-84946.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...gher_education http://www.siliconinvestor.com/readm...msgid=20899684 Since his honorary degrees are both from fake institutions and therefore worthless, he should not refer to himself as a "Dr" as he has done on several occasions. Furthermore, he should have discarded the title as soon as possible to avoid the bad reputation that comes from accepting a worthless degree. Moreover, there is no sign of a bachelor's degree listed in these sites about him: http://www.bloomberg.com/research/st...ticker=OSIM:SP http://osim.listedcompany.com/directors.html ----- NTU and NUS should shut down as soon as possible since there is no need to get a degree anymore. What on earth has Minister Tan Chuan-Jin been doing during his term as Minister for Manpower?! Why are there so many cases of people with fake degrees being employed, even in government jobs? To lose a job to a person with a degree from a degree mill is unfair to those who have worked hard to earn their degrees from credible institutions. It is a disgrace for government agencies that are funded by taxpayers' money to employ people with dubious qualifications from unaccredited universities. It is a shame that the responsible government agencies have shirked from their duty to ensure that Singapore remains a meritocracy.
