Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Just dun understand why the club keep let the youngster leave instead give them a chance to shine . The latest player is Bobby Clark . In the end we paid high price to get in a foreign player with premium price

Can anyone here explain this year's Champions League? No longer 8 groups of 4 (which makes 32 qualifying teams). It is now a single league table of 36 teams? Cannot br we play 70 away and home CL matches right?

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Quote:
The pivotal change in the reforms announced by the UEFA Executive Committee is the departure from the current format's group stage system. The present Champions League group stage includes 32 participants divided into eight groups of four. From the 2024/25 season, 36 clubs will participate in the Champions League league phase (former group stage), giving four more sides the opportunity to compete against the best clubs in Europe. Those 36 clubs will participate in a single league competition in which all 36 competing clubs are ranked together. Under the new format, teams will play eight matches in the new league phase (former group stage). They will no longer play three opponents twice – home and away – but will instead face fixtures against eight different teams, playing half of those matches at home and half of them away. To determine the eight different opponents, the teams will initially be ranked in four seeding pots. Each team will then be drawn to play two opponents from each of these pots, playing one match against a team from each pot at home, and one away. This gives the opportunity for clubs to test themselves against a wider range of opponents and raises the prospect for fans of seeing the top teams go head to head more often and earlier in the competition. It will also result in more competitive matches for every club across the board. Qualification for the Champions League will continue to be open and depend on a club's final position in the previous season's domestic league competition combined with each association's position in the association club coefficient ranking. The basis of the access list will remain the same as for the current season, and the additional four slots available in 2024/25 will be allocated as follows: Slot one: This place will go to the club ranked third in the championship of the association in fifth position in the access list, which is determined by the UEFA association club coefficient ranking. Slot two: This place will be awarded to a domestic champion by extending from four to five the number of clubs qualifying via the Champions path of the competition's qualifying process, which will consist of four qualifying rounds. Slots three and four: These places will go to the associations with the best collective performance by their clubs in the previous season (i.e. the association club coefficient of the previous season, which is based on the total number of club coefficient points obtained by each club from an association divided by the number of participating clubs from that association). Those two associations will each earn one automatic place in the league phase ('European Performance Spot') for the club ranked next-best in their domestic league behind those clubs that have already qualified directly for the league phase. On a side note, Nat Phillips is still with us. Probably will get to play if Arne Slot doesn't sell or loan him. Stefan Bajectic may be loaned or sold (hopefully not). Rafa's been recently explaining how he scouted good young players but Hicks and Gillet didn't have the transfer budget to buy the good players. Strangely, we have been selling good young players. We have money now, but we bought no one. Maybe we should just get some Chelsea players on loan with an option to buy later at a low price. They have so many players their changing room isn't big enough for all.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Good result. Away to Man U next weekend. By then, the transfer window will be over. Maybe we can sign some Chelsea players on loan with option to buy. Like Trevoh Chalobah. We should have gone for Conor Gallagher too... wasted.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
You on a roll over the weekend eh bro
A comfortable result all in Good to see our front 3 now all with goals and long may this continue So happy to see Diaz score and a great goal at that. Need Darwin to get his act in place next Actually think we could have won by more but for the Brentford GK and one of its defenders Only concern is our defending of set pieces, need to get to grips with this Interesting game up next weekend |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Yes, thank you for sharing with regards the new format bro totoman
Its going to be interesting to see how this pans out On Nat still remaining, seems like Joe Gomez might still remain as well bro?? Saw him on the bench last night As for Rafa's latest, think his comment on the combined 'price' of both Gerrard and Carragher was hilarious - £200m, Stevie G at £185m & Carra at £15m, lol Dont think Carra would be too pleased but serves him right, getting too big for his boots as a pundit nowadays Quote:

Oops
That said Carra not on a good run as even Slot took a cheeky dig at him on Sky together with King Kenny's daughter after the Brentford game |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Number 1 is Carragher,
Number 2 is Carragher. Carragher! We all dream of a team of Carraghers, a team of Carraghers, a team of Carraghers! Must be because Carragher didn't keep blabbing on in the dream. As a fan, I never understood his post match interviews. His Scouse accent is so strong. I was very surprised he became a BBC pundit. I am even more surprised I can understand his English after he became a pundit. He makes very direct points and I believe it's scripted in some way. Don't take what he says at face value because BBC needs controversial views to get ratings. Anyway, last week of silly season, latest rumour is Nunez is heading to Arsenal. We may have signed Nunez's replacement.
