What should he do?
He watched helplessly as Bernice got further. And further. He didn't know why but his legs began to run, and he didn't know why. He sprinted. He shouted. He waved frantically. He was panicking. He was afraid. He tried running faster and prayed hard that Bernice would notice him running after her. He shouted till he had no voice left. He ran till his legs gave way. He continued giving chase until he fell and hurt his knees. But the wound didn't seem to hurt. The rain came and drenched his soul completely. The flashback came, flooding his eyes with visuals of the past. The very first time he tried to win her over using sweet talk, to the first time he had sex with her and the sweetest moments. About how she was there during Beth's death. About how she was the one who was always there for him and didn't get angry over the mistakes he had done. Had he been really missing out? Or has his heart of ice been melted with the warmth of her love? Flashbacks: Bernice: So you never loved me. I was just a temporary plaster to your wounds. Once your wounds are healed I will just be thrown away. Daniel looked down and remained silent, his tears still dripping. Bernice: I won't be angry with you Daniel as I love you too much to hate you. I just want to let you know that no matter what happens, I will still be there for you. Not just now but the future too. Daniel: Don't make promises Bernice. She too swore but in the end she still left me. I have a phobia of falling into a relationship Bernice. I really have. Bernice: I will prove you wrong. And I hope one day you will know how much I love you Daniel. I will not ask for your love. For everything I did, I was willing. Now he understood. Bernice was always there, waiting for him. But he just kept on repeating his mistakes. He took her too much for granted. And why does people only realize the pain after losing it? Why was it so? Her cab never stopped. He let the rain pour on him harshly, he had not known how long he had been sitting in the rain when there were sounds of stilettos approaching and an umbrella came, sheltering him.
