Re: Re-location advice

This is great thread on moving to Thailand. I recently spent a month in CM and really enjoyed myself in the slow n relax environment. I would probably return to CM soon to find my girlfriend again. However since I have little savings and not entrepreneurial, I guess the best thing for me is still to continue getting a SG salary (tho its getting increasingly expensive and stressful in sg) n spending them in CM when i have the time.

Don't tell me Malaysian bros are easier targets?

Irrespective of nationality those who think they know what they are doing will eventually pay tuition fees to receive a dose of reality.

Staying in Thailand for a few weeks or a month is very different from long term residency.
They are many factors to consider which I've mentioned previously on this thread.

Re-location to any country requires one to be financially sufficient to sustain a certain standard of lifestyle.
Be it drawing from reserves or consistent passive income from a business or investment.

Due to my work I stayed in Changping, Dongguan (South China) for many years already.
Bangkok I also stay long term before also.
Sianz lah once you become a "resident".

For most middle income Singaporeans the situation is such that getting a job is not a problem but a very well paying job or to become very rich it takes more than working very hard and luck.
The main reason is because most Singaporeans are asset rich but cash poor.
Life savings all stuck in property and the rest locked in CPF.
This is how the system is set up for you to toe the line.

If want to achieve financial freedom in a shorter amount of time then really need to venture overseas or dislodged yourself from the mainstream way of doing things meaning you have to hoard cash out of the system aka CPF so you can leverage it for business or lifestyle.

End of day the notion of re-location to another so called low cost or less stressful country is still a dream for many.
The first step to make this dream into reality is you need to be very focused on wealth accumulation first.
Otherwise it is just plain day dreaming and NATO.

粮草充足。兵操马练。百战百胜!
Ration and hay well stocked. Soldiers and horses well trained. Fight 100 battles, win 100 battles!

A very good example is a bro from America call norice.
I believe he is semi retired in Bangkok.
He money earn enough liao or have consistent passive income to sustain his living expenses.

All the best to those who wants to make this dream come true!

But in fact and the hard true that many singaporean dont realise..We singaporeans dont own much Assets too...in facts are liabilities..even for HDB...if we are paying the Electricity bills and water bills..it is a liabilities..unless we rent it out to generate income for us..tats is then when is label as a Assets. Which this way, is a NO-NO for the government. Becos they know all about this and never will want us to own a Real Asset for our own. Further more, ultimately, the HDB flat still own by the Gov. We are just the many Poor and Slaves for the Gov...which the CB 70% voted...

In those western countries, they dun have to save enough. Most depends on a scheme called "pension". A lot of so called "expats" here lives on pension. Unfortunately, in SG, the govt says, "work till u die".

Example, I know an Australian who was a Vietnam war veteran. He lives on about 2k USD pension every month. He can save some money and travel regularly.

It is how u look at it. HDB can be sold in free market but unfortunately once sold, majority of the cash will be return to CPF. Govt helps u save your money while giving u interests. Do u label this as an asset or ?????

Bought my HDB SGD 350k (now worth 500k+) and rented for SGD2.5k/monthly or 30k yearly, already rented more than 15 years and rental income more than SGD 360k.....I consider my HDB is free leaw.....this is how I consider that I "unlock" my CPF

Every Singaporean should buy a HDB whether you are single or married, if single and above 35 please go and buy(location, location, location).....HDB will be very useful if you can use the rental income for retirement planning.

Re: Re-location advice

Got a friend in CM 60+ years old and got sgd 400+ monthly from his CPF as retirement fund pay out.......divorce and live in a 3 room flat while in sg.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Now he move to CM, rented his 3room for sgd 1600 and with his sgd 400 cpf pay out total SGD 2k, he move to Chiangmai and rent a landed small house for sgd 300, got a 2nd hand bike to move around and spend another sgd 300 for his daily expenses like water, electric, fuel, food and internet etc......and another sgd 300-400 for his entertainment when friends visit him in CM go cafe, restaurant, pubs etc.....total monthly expenses SGD 1000, and he can still save up SGD 1000 every month. (compare to only having SGD 400 to spend if he live in sg).

Another Happy man in Chiangmai

Few more Singaporean living in CM also partly live on rental income from HDB.......TQ PAP for making HDB more expensive and bring in more FT to rent our HDB, so we can relax one corner in CM while the FT work hard to earn money and pay the rental to us 55555+

Re: Re-location advice

Yup I have long viewed HDB rental as the focal point of generating this passive income when i eventually get the opportunity to migrate to LOS. I believe if i achieve this goal earlier than it will be BKK first than CNX but eventually I think CNX makes the most sense. Retirement should be a life free from all the hectic hustle and bustle and CNX fits the bill.

Anyway speaking of Malaysians... I think they haven't "smarten up" to the nightlife girls as compared to singaporeans. I frequent TD quite often last time so I made quite a number of friends from there and they are in my FB/WA/LINE list so i am able to see whats going on with them.

Alot of these girls have gone to JB/KL to work because getting damn tough to keep entering sg and I see the amount of flowers they get there is 3x the amount in SG (I know its ringgit but we have to remember the Malaysians dont enjoy the exchange rate so its still even stevens for them). They even spend silly money just to impress the girls by buying a real bouquet of flowers. It was a damn huge bunch I think minimally 30 stalks or so to send to her workplace. This are things that you used to see in SG siam diu many years ago but its happening now across the causeway lol.

One of the reason is that the TD scene in Msia started much later and Sporen has a head start to that dose of reality. At the height of the fever when the first TD joint in KL opened in 2011, one can literally see tray of tequilas stacked on top of one after another in every tables. it is becoming an increasingly rare sight nowadays as the spending become more discriminate. having been to TDs in Spore two years back, I can notice the difference in spending pattern. I also noticed that the atmosphere was more raunchy and playful in our KL joints and more constrained in Spore. before the citywide crackdown sometime in 2014, most joints have a steady group of girls in very flimsy bikini ala DANOK style. those days are gone.

As a Malaysian that used to travel and work in the Malaysian-Thai border towns, S.E.Asian cities frequently, i do agreed with your comments.

Most Malaysians only go to the Thai border areas where they shiok shiok enjoy the clubs and puds with Thai vultures eager to milk you. Mostly, they get the " kong tao " from the Thai sexy bitches. And they wanna, later, to get Thai gfs and make love to them, that usually work in the clubs here. And they spent and spent money to get their Thai gfs.

I wanna laugh at the stupidity of these illusioned Malaysians.

Thai Discos are actually called " hanging flower " joints here. These popped up in Malaysia. But they popped in and out liked wild mushrooms in the forest.

The bad thing is that every puying that i met in clubs always complained about how bad their income was while working in Singapore. But working in Malaysia is liked heavens to them in regards to their income gained plus less hassle from the immigration . Only problem is that there are raids by the police, immigration but these are all wayang and for show only.

Again, do agreed 100% with your comments, but you only went to TD in Sing, 2 years back meh ?. I was there in Geyland and Golden Mile Complex areas, 11 years ago.

Yes, more playful in the KL and JB and Penang Thai clubs. That's maybe because you Singaporeans are more the gentlemen type while we, are mostly " wild west cowboys ". The puyings mostly called us " hum sup " with loaded revolvers to shoot at their strategic love hole. They don't called me hum sup now but a respectable papa instead. Whatever they said, to me, it is still an illusion and i know how to handle it in regards to the real reality in Thai clubs everywhere.

The crackdown on the flimsy bikini ala Danok style in Thai clubs happened well before 2014. The crackdown happened in 2011. So, you have been to the famous Lava Club in Pandan Perdana whereby trays of diluted tequilas, flowers, crowns were thrown at the lingerie ( without under wear, some girls do wear their undies while in lingerie in clubs ) sexy girls with big solid melons with small nipples showing ?. Every night, even on weekdays, the club was full. Of course, it was full house. Can french kiss, squeeze and squeeze and " korek korek " with your fingers with some of the puyings .

Now also got a Thai Club in Jalan Kuchai Lama with 100 plus puyings, and Paramount Club in Jalan Kia Peng with 80 plus very beautiful, tall, very sexy, extremely cun puyings. But same situation here, the puyings are here to milk you. And no lingerie shows. Two pieces bikini shows in Thai clubs.......got.....but hidden in Thai clubs in K.L.

My apology to all to SBF fellows as this thread is a " Re location advise " and should not the post above here.

Have a good day today, my fellow Singaporean SBF members.

Yokosi,

Excellent commentary! I wish, I was a participant in those days in Malaysia, but, I was only a holiday traveler in Bangkok and Pattaya! Also, especially in Pat Pong and Walking Street bars, you could do lots of crazy things and bar fine underage girls (15 - 17), but that wasn't in my agenda! I agree, now is so tamed compared to those days!

Hey, don't call yoursef "papa", then I have to call myself, grandpa!

Hello Norice,

How was Danok ?. LT now is Ringgit 400 to 550 now for an average lady. Post your FRs for Hatyai and Danok in the two threads.

To some extend, tame or not depends on one ability to interact with ladies in many places.

Last week, in Penang, in a Thai club, fingered two ladies' love holes and made these very wet.

But still LOS is not that excellent as yesterday days.

A pity youngsters these days didn't get to sample all that. Even when I started visiting them , they were dying off.

Good old days at Clifford Pier.

Quote:
http://eresources.nlb.gov.sg/infoped...004-12-14.html

Prostitution grew rampant at Clifford Pier in the 1980s and early 1990s. Its colloquial name ang teng beh tau (Hokkien for “red light harbour”, a reference to the red beacon atop the building, used for warning ships) became an ironic allusion to the pier being a red-light district. During that period, police raids were regularly conducted there to stamp out the illicit activities.24
