All those chiongsters who tried to get WLs as girlfriends or wives, do you think it mattered to them? If they failed, they simply join the statistics. If they succeeded, they simply become the rare exception, but nothing has changed. Failure rate is still higher than success rate.

Marry a WL is ok. I marry one, but you need to know the girl and it help if the WL not working in your country. I meet my wife number two in JB when i was working in Singapore 4 year back. After she agree to follow me, I set up home in JB and commute to Singapore every day. She stop work and all her friend jealous of her. None of my staff, my friend and my family know she a WL before, and none of them will have think that I go cheong (this help alot!!!). It been like that for three year. I only marry her Dec 2005 because she have my son. No choice because of the son, we move back to HK. Forget to tell she not malaysian, she from Phillipine, so every year she in Malaysia, I have to buy a maid visa for her, with the baby coming have to marry her and move back to HK so the son have a OK passport. Now my mother and father like her a lot may be because of my son. She do need time to adjust form the play play time in Malaysia(we do go disco 2 3 night a week, every staff in Blue Wave know us) to now wife to take care of the son, also the second son is coming and I working alone in Vietnam. Noone know I like cheong except my wife, so now she worry because she know Vietnamese girl is pretty....she always tell me do not go back to the same girl because she worry I fall for another one. Sure now I fall for one in Vietnam and she is so pretty!!!! I do hope it can be wife number three but girl in vietnam is problem problem!!!!!

WLs are also human being, some are even have higher character than S'pore ladies. Of course, I do not wish Bros here marrying WLs but for some lonely guy who need companion & did not meet good sg gals, why not WLs if provided they are truthful & good WLs.

ya true there are alots of lonely guys who cannot really find true love among singaporeans....sometimes local gals are abit like WLs in my eyes, as practically goes for the richer, get married and become tai tais...instead of getting a title behind their name(eg.MBA,CPA etc), they can easily become a Mrs somebody instead....they may not love their partners fully, but can give up their "body" in exchange for money.......what i means are those prettier ones of course, not those veri ugly ones. In that case, they are no difference from FLs, WLs.

Of cos not all gals in SG are like that, but wont u agree that generally SG gals are more realistic? can anyone named someone who is doing freelance to support their boyfriend or husband here? In other country like china, it is quite a common sight due to the nature of poverty. But usually, most are supporting their families etc....

We don't want go chionging with the aim of finding a bride, but when a pretty girl starts treating us better than the ones we know, our minds start wondering.

Many of them get cheated by men in the 1st place, that's why they become like those greedy PRC girls that cheat old men. Most, not all men that patronise these girls will not consider being with the girls after their fling, so the girls will try to get what they can while they can.

However, every now and then, we get comfortable and open our hearts to one another, then money stops being an issue. We forget our problems and pains for the short time we are with them. After getting hell at work, to see their faces light up when they see us, makes us just feel good about ourselves. We start telling them our problems and vice versa, here begins a relationship.

Statistics tell the truth, many of these relationships failed in the past, but times have changed, many Singaporean men have been driven to foreign brides by our local girls, WLs being a large part of that. We might not be proud of what they did before, but your future happiness is what counts most. Mark my words, this WL as wife issue will be a common trend within the next 5 years. The statistics will then read differently.

I don't think you mean "lonely". I think you mean "desperate".

Truthfully, all this is "ying yuan". Falling in love is not a decision you can make. You cannot choose when or who to fall in love with. You can only, as a responsible adult, choose the actions you take. Marrying a WL is not wrong. But purposely going out to find WLs to marry? Asking for trouble only. It's all right to be romantic and open-minded, just don't die while trying to be a hero! What are we trying to prove? That we're noble and compassionate?

Who are we to judge, if one makes good with ex WL? But let's get real, you have real challenges (aka problems) with rest of community. Societal norms or prejudices cannot be easily overcome. Not in this or possibly next lifetime.
