Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips
Had benefited from this forum and some experience to share.
Was exposed to AC in 2009 and since then had been in AC for 5 times in total in just one yr time. Went there the 1st time with friends and subsequently on my own. It can be addictive, esp the 1st few trips. Every time i will tell myself that this will be the last trip but eventually i will book another trip when i am back home. Was back last wk after a 6 mth absence. Probably will go back next yr. There's something which AC attach me to go back. The low expenses as compared to alot of places, the excitement in meeting new girls at every trips during barhopping, the relax lifestyle and culture, the fact of meeting someone you know is low there, the negotiation with the girl u wish to barfine etc. All these activities which i probably wont be experiencing at home, i am able to experience during my stay there. I personally find a 4 to 5 days stay is just nice for me. Anything > 5 can be boring & one may wish to be back home. To play safe, i always keep myself within field avenue at night time and will not go beyond perimeter during daytime. I suppose there's enough choices for me within this range. Keep a low profile & one shld be alright. Enjoy. |

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips
Thanks Ziebart & the Lord for the welcome.
No need to envy me. My 5x in a yr was due to the addiction. LOL Anyway i manage to "cold turkey" myself for half a yr after the 4th trip. I enjoy my recent trip and wont think it will be my last. Still having the withdrawal symptoms though. As for whether is it safe to travel alone in AC, i will think it will depends. Generally AC is safe. So far no major problem for me traveling alone there. Just be more careful & alert since you are at other people place. Pick pockets, cheating and stuff may also happen at home. Reading through the forum might help better prepare of what to expect. Links of AC map, information of hotels, bars are mostly there. Even links of youtude videos teaching what to ask when barfining. All these had help better understand AC. Do some reading & planning & bring along with some adventurous spirit, you will enjoy AC. But of cse, always PLAY SAFE. Cheers. |

As I found out, once while in Makati, the super-good part of Philippines, while wandering out with a friend, I stumbled upon a part of Palanaan which resembled Tondo at it's worst .. .. me and my filipino 'bodyguard' felt a bit more than out of place, and we hot-footed out of there .. we couldn't have legged it out faster as almost like on cue, a few trikes started up and virtually were following us, until we hit Makati Ave .. that was scary ... all in the name of listening to a suggestion from a guy who said down Palanaan - there are cheaper girls, i.e. students and so living in dorms ..

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips
You've got mail bro... And yes I don't mind going out of my comfort zone if there are some friends willing to explore together. Hope you don't mind an anti-social arh beng to party with you. whoever else in town on the weekend of 9th Oct and want to bar-hop, do drop a pm and at least we can arrange for a time and place to meet.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips
I've been to AC for about 6 years now and the most I ever visited AC was 6 times in one year. Although AC is NOT what I call a safe place as there are places and streets even I don't want to venture. It's ok if you stick to the general bar areas (remember to be out of Perimeter before the last bar closes as its a dark ghost town by then). Mugging do occur once in a while, usually off Fields and mostly between Fields and Perimeter but that shit happens anywhere in PI and not just AC.
When I was a newbie there, I use to only travel by trikes. Trikes are ok but can add up quickly if you use it alot. Jeepneys is the way I always go and never had any problems, other than the fact that some drivers may cheat you out of a few pesos by short changing you sometimes but not worth arguing for 2-3 pesos. Only hassle is the crowded jeepney where some may try to pick you, but all I do is put my hand in my pocket where I keep my money and never had a problem. Also, don't be too foolish and carry more than you need anyway. Even Traveling with a bargirl from Perimeter back to Fields to my hotel, I still use a Jeepney for the 2 of us and never had a complaint. Just my take from someone whose been there and done that (alot). PT |

Hi Ziebart, Just need a clarification. The only Hana Hotel in AC I remember is in Perimeter. The Hana Hotel is on Malabanias St, just off Perimeter RD. Is there another Hana off McArthur? |
