Lau chiao will remember about 10yrs ago, when oil price shoot up, ferry ticket price go up a lot - see chart.
Then oil price go down a lot but ferry ticket price never go back down, fat fat profit for ferry operators.
Now oil price go back up to about same level as last time, so ferry ticket should be same as last time as oil price up at same level, but no - ferry ticket price go up some more!!!
Ferry ticket price follow oil price up, but never follow oil price down!!!
Not just ferry ticket. Your caipng price will also rise and will not head south. Same for cewek price. It will not go down.
Bus fare, MRT fare and electricity rates in SG also same, not just ferry operators. Ferry operators are suffering substantial losses during past 2 years due to border closure, need to recover losses, understandably. However SMRT, SP Power, SBS & etc are still making profit, still raise price whenever there is hike on oil price.

True, agree with u inflation will affect many things.
But my point is ferry ticket price already went up a lot (close to double, if i remember) about 10 yrs ago when oil price shot up to about same level as now (USD100+ per barrel). Shortly after, oil prices fell a lot. But ferry ticket price remain at the increased high level. Ferry ticket price never adjust back down.
Now, oil price go back up to that same high level as last time, and ferry operators increase already high (from last round high oil price) ticket price by double!
Ferry ticket price inflation not same same as other things. Double the dose!

Yes true but bus fare, MRT fare and electricity rates go up and down moderately in line with oil price. But ferry ticket prices go up a lot about 10 yrs ago and never come down when oil price fell a lot. 1 direction only - up and up a lot!

Most of us also suffer losses past 2 yrs. Who do we recover our losses from? Also ferry operators can reduce losses from laying off staff and not having to pay for oil and ferry terminal charges.

The price hikes for these are more modest and gradual, and for SP Power, it also comes down when oil price fall.
