My hotel male recept told me that FLs, PRs, bar girls usually go to those restaurants in ngyuen trai to be picked up from 11 or 12 to 3am
Steps
1. Buy her flower from the flower girls pestering the foreigners.
2. Walk up and small chat, starting rate abt 100USD
Advantages
1. No need to go those loud discos..
2. Can enjoy cheap dimsum(20K) and cheap beer (heneiken only 18K)
2. Gathering of all the FLs in a single location for you to see, so no nid go bar/club-hopping. (I even saw a dawn yang lookalike)
Disadvantages
1. Some PR 1 u met in Pub A with some potential will see you tackling PR 2 in Pub B..Minus points
2. Big flower cost 50K, small flower cost 10K
3. Usually are those left-overs from the various clubs. But then now is low-season, so the quality i saw was still way better than in SG.
4. Need some courage la, cos open place not in the dark..

Oh boy, sorry sorry. When you didn't answer me in PM thought you were brushing me off. Maybe paranoid, my apologies. With that clue, I know which pub it was.
Anyway the safest cab to take are vinasun (white green), comfort-saxico or something (part owned by comfort in sg,same blue colour) and vina taxi (yellow). For Mai linh taxi, i think the meter like jumped abit faster than the other 2? not sure, just feels like it does.
The starting price are usually stick on their vehicle, and the pricing is normally stick on the dashboard. If u had any compliants like overcharged, long detours, fake meters etc, u can actually record down the car plate number and the number sticker on their cab. Whether its useful, i dont know, being its in vietnam.
Knowing abit of viet and knowing your route will helped in being overcharged, but to me, if its a few dollars difference sometimes we cant be overly bothered by it.
They are not exactly the safest but I would say they are less risky. I have encountered drivers from the various companies trying to take me for a "Tour de HCMC" because they think I am a foreignor. Having said that, I do agree that having a knowledge of directions will help abit. Also you might encounter new drivers whoi come from other parts of vietnam and have no idea of the location of some places or streets.

ITs a popular eating place, even opens late at night after your clubbing exploits. Their famous dishes are noodles phnom penh style and hu tiu (some kind of white noodles with pork).
There are 2 shops but I cant remember the name but I have tried both and I personally feel the 2nd shop is nicer. The dish is called Hu Tiu Nam Vang and the white noddles they use is actually rice noodle not egg noodle. It is similar to our "tang hoon"

I think there a few outlets located around HCMC. The other one I know of is located on Cao Thang Street. BE warned, if you go there and eat, after your meal you will smell of "oil" from top to bottom.
