I did post snatching in this thread before. Let me give 3 real life examples.

In PP if these assholes were caught red handed, he will be whacked till he lied on the floor. No police will be available. Even locals will assist to whack him.

seriously, u guys should follow old birds advice & stop putting mobiles & wallets on table during meals. i will always scold any bros with me for doing that, coz i said i can't help to run fast enough to help after that.

my regular tuktuk driver will always stop his tuk tuk & remind me to stop using my hp while riding. nowadays i will sit in middle of tuktuk & use both hands to cover my hp if i need to use on tuktuk rides.

& pls lah, guys! dun wear glittering gold in these countries lah, it's like inviting for troubles...

Please do not listen to these Senior/Old bird
Do continue to leave wallet and hp on the table
Do talk on the hp while on tuk tuk (do not sit in the middle while doing so)
Do wear gold necklace (thicker the better) on the street
Do wear your most expensive watch on the street
Do show off your USD (100 notes), wave it around better

It will make it easier for us to recognize you
and make our job easier

Snatching and thieving is common here. Even locals also kena.
Please exercise the warnings/precautions given above. Abide it, will be safe.
Honestly, I feel phnom penh is safer compare to hcmc and JB.

Don't be snobbish/rude. Try not to get into trouble/fight/bad argument with locals. We are afterall in their country 和气生财 . I have seen few times local mob wacking, grow in size damn fast. Small issues can escalate into big. Even police come in also hard to stop them.

For those who intend to rent motorbikes from shops. Just be more careful. There's this scam going for some shops, they will pass u their lock for locking the bike wheels when u park.
Someone from the shop will actually follow u and wait till u park ur bike. With master key, he will unlock it and ride away. Thus bike lost, have to compensate.
Helmets - Unless one know where the traffic police always camped. Else wear it, if not prepare to pay the bribe.

Khmers love 2 things. US dollars & Beer

For the rates of mongering, The ST/ LT prices is inflated much. They always try luck in asking high. Be firm, follow the standard rates (or if one deem fit in giving the price), else change targets. Many trees in the forest.
Mostly Vietnamese using wechat in Nagaworld. Their initial asking is always a shocking price. Blame it on the Koreans/china ppl. The FLs there love to target them.
My friend recently went to the Nagaworld spa (they have mixture of Cambodian & Vietnamese masseuse). Was quoted $200 usd for one shot! Crazy. Of cos he didnt take it.

They are there for u to choose n company u for your meal n drinks. If u want, some will go back with u after meal. A lot in PP too.

There are such restaurant in PP too. I went there few times. But that restaurant closed down during my last trip. You just ask the Gal to sit beside you and eat and drink together with you. Similar to KTV. You should be able to touch her if you dare cos it is in the Open or Public. I will tip her usd 5 after the meal. I heard they can be tabao although I never ask before. Unlike China they are called "No Hand Restaurant". The gal will feed you. Your hands are suppose to roam their Body only. Some China Restaurant even come with a "Bed" inside the Room!

I agreed with you,been to hcmc and PP several time.First trip to HCMC already kana con by taxi driver.Vietnamese people are in fact smarter and more daring compare to Cambodian.I feel safer in PP than HCMC.Once a Tutu driver in PP ask me to hold on to my havasack just in case been snatch by motorbike rider.

Use common sense when travelling,i always don't carry any bags or waist pouch around and will put 1 stack of notes on one of my front pants pocket and my wallet behind with few notes just in case robber target the wallet,i still got some spare cash left.

My buddy like to carry a sling pouch on himself while I carry nothing,inside be bring along his passport around and other stuff.I don't bring along cos I see the need to bring passport out unless you need it to do something.

Pehaps sg people have the mentality that leaving passport in room will get lost cos hotel staff can enter and steal.
