HELLO to all bros here! Great thread on HCMC. I started reading from Pg 140 onwards and hope to cover the earlier threads in the next few days, or weeks!

I've wanted to visit Vietnam for 2-3 years now. Finally made up my mind and booked myself a ticket to go from 11 to 14 May during the Vesak long weekend. From the massive useful info I've gathered from here, this is my rough plan:
Check into Lan Lan Hotel or cheaper hotel
Roam around the city and cover the touristy areas, shopping, eat goat's breast, etc. during the days.
Nights: Paradise hunting. Probably try fishing for 1st few nights, then go for the sure things like Lost in Sgn or Gossip or Charlie's Angels.

Being my 1st post here, I'll keep my qns short and few:
1. For Lan Lan 2, is it advisable to book from their website or just walk-in? (Their webby lists twin room at USD 30!)
2. If I want to bring a girl back to hotel, should I book a Single or Twin room in order not to pay extra?
3. I don't speak Vietnamese, would u say my chances at fishing would be 0.1%?

Would like to meet up with the regulars here too if they don't mind. I'm travelling alone, so dinner times can get lonely.

No.1....if it is the bar which i remember going with SingViet and left within 30 mins....then i would say " puke....No.1.....

Why puke??? girls there make you puke? Where exactly is the location or is there a lot of no.1 bar? If I not wrong, it shld spell as Number 1 Bar.

I think its No.1 Le Than Ton Street in District 1. it used to be a very fun place, but drinks are expensive. Their bottle of VSOP is always mixed with Coke on their own (i mean its already mixed in bottle when they bring to you), and it cost you more than the VSOP you get elsewhere. gals are alright, not that fantastic.

If you go fishing and cannot find gals, give me a call. i can arrange for gals for you.

The hotel i bring you to will not need to pay extra for bringing gals back.

If the chances of fishing is so high, then my Charlie's Angels business will have no more biz. During middle to late april, its advisable to be cautious when fishing as police are everywhere. (Late April is their reunification day)

In fact, it has already started. Heard that Club Royale was raided a few days ago. No-harm-done type of raid. More like a shock-and-awe...

Unification is 30 Apr? or is it 1 May? can't remember liao. But I know that from now till then, all hell will, erm, remain where it is, hell. Last year this time, everthing close sharp at 12 mid-night, girls don't dare to let me sit behind on their bike after mid-night, don't dare to go hotel (police can force open the door to conduct spot check)... all in all, it is a sad month for men.

Was there with a group of my bros on 1st Mar to 5th Mar. We were staying at Tuong Huy hotel, per day is US$15. They have wireless internet service at the reception and is very convience to move around esp. opposite there is a chinese restorent. Maybe travelling to Hanoi during the May period, any cheap hotels over there?

Reunification is 29th Apr. Amara KTV also raided the other night, 40 gals arrested.
