Cisse to return to Liverpool?

Olympique Marseille president Pape Diouf is unsure if the club will be attempting to make Djibril Cisse's loan move from Liverpool permanent.

Cisse has been on loan at the French club since the summer and has scored 4 goals in 14 appearances this season. Liverpool are willing to let the striker leave on a permanent basis for an £8 million fee, but with Cisse struggling to find top form for the French outfit it is unlikely the club would be willing to stump up £8million to secure his services. If Marseille do not make a bid for the striker then Cisse will return to Anfield, where it is believed he will be way down the pecking order.

From a French webby

On-loan Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse could face the prospect of returning at Anfield when his season-long loan ends.

Cisse is having a tough time in France at the present time after he was involved in an clash with Paris St Germain's Mario Yepes in February, breaking the Uruguayan defender's ankle. Three days later he was jeered incessantly at the Stade de France during France's 1-0 friendly defeat against Argentina.

View the incident here

The Parisian crowd continued that treatment against Austria, with the jeers increasing in volume following Cisse's first shot at goal, which went wide of the mark in the 23rd minute. Cisse has also had to endure booing from Marseille fans who have become frustrated with his performances.

The striker has scored just 4 goals in his 14 appearances for Marseille and reports suggest that the club may be unwilling to stump up the £8 million that Liverpool are demanding to make the move permanent.

Last night, Marseille chairman Pape Diouf, said the decision on whether to take up the option of buying Cisse "has still not been discussed".

Really hope he can be offloaded before the start of the season, not in the mold of a typical Pool striker. Never was impressed with him.

no offence bro... but why is it a good time to increase yr pool decor in yr car now??? were u ashamed of them previously? just kidding... trying to find out how many bros here r victims of scratches and smashed tailights on our cars bcos of our allegience to the only team worth supporting in the EPL? have friends who could not take the vandalism and took down the decor... true enough, the scratching stopped... for me, it has become a way of life that i usually just send my car for repairs or drive with the scratches, but taking down the decor? out of the question... the vandalism only serves to tell us that we r doing something right to piss those losers off big time...

now, that's one post that would make my day... somehow more concerned about who liverpool's opponents will be in the final in athens. meeting chelsea again, well this time liverpool will beat them fair and square and chelsea fans would not have the luxury of hiding behind the excuse of "depleted" team or ball didnt cross the line crap this time round.

I wish Pool fans can get over the Owen affair. I think he is second to none in his finishing and has improved in his overall game since his goal against Argentina. I can say this objectively.

As a person though, and as a Pool supporter, he wasn't very good, and left us in a lurch to join a bigger team for bigger bucks. But that's a separate matter.

agreed though. dont get to say that much cos we seem to have differing thoughts most of the time, eh??? or m i just imagining?

well, nothing against him personally. talented player with lots of speed and determination who did contribute to liverpool. n didnt really know the real circumstances why he left for the galacticos.

but have to say i was glad he did. cos bcos of him, liverpool had to concentrate on mainly to get through balls for him and most of the time, crosses were relatively useless cos he is too damn short!!! thus limiting attacking options. that said, i was actually glad rafa didnt take him back...

It doesn't really matter whether we agree or not, right?

To be frank, Mickey can a lot contribute to the Rafalution. You don't need to be tall to score headers - Owen has scored headers before for us. You need movement, and you need the instinct to move. All the talk about getting a world class striker, and of course we didn't manage to hold on to one.

True, he is injury wracked, and in that sense, maybe better that we get someone who can be fit most of the time.

Bros, just came across another latest update on Cisse,

Big Sam linked with Cisse swoop
Thu, Apr 12 2007 15:49

Bolton are being linked with a move for Liverpool striker Djbril Cisse who looks set to leave Anfield in the summer.

The French international has failed to impress during a season-long loan spell with Marseille and is set to return to Anfield at the end of the season with his career in limbo.

The striker wants to stay in England and, according to reports in France, Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce is lining up a summer raid for the player as he is keen to link him up with Nicolas Anelka and El-Hadji Diouf.

Liverpool will not be able to get anywhere near the £13million they forked out for Cisse and if Allardyce can pick him up on the cheap, like he did with Diouf, then a deal could be on.

Allardyce is also hoping he will be able to offer the striker Uefa Cup football and if he wants to stay in England, a short switch to the Reebok Stadium may appeal.

Hopefully he does not go off too cheap, may come back and haunt us!?

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Good result, we did what we had to do, control the game, not take risks and try and win it if we can.

Pity about the sending off though, there was no need for it, but who cares anyway it was a well worked goal. Crouch did well to get to the great cross by Riise, and Fowler cut it back nicely for the finish.

Pennant played really well last night, commanded the right hand side against a CL quarter finalist team so thats good. He has been playing really well last couple of games, i did have faith in him.

Fowler, i thought when he came on he looked lively enough, experience counts for a alot of things, he has lost his pace and fitness but his brain is still ticking over as per and he was looking lively. Not his fault that the team is drilled to play the way it is, it's not about ministration to one striker anymore, it's about finding that flaccid link in every team i feel.

Anyways congrats all Reds fan, Chelski watch out for us

Lol I'm sure there will be takers for Cisse, he is a high profile player and catches the eye with his silly hairstyles and sometimes spectacular goals.
Wouldn't surprise me if Spurs went back in for him, if they could get him on the cheap.

One thing for sure he won't be coming back, Rafa does not like him.. which is definately a good thing

Yup i can understand the doubts we have b4 a player can get himself match fit. My opinion is, it would be a major boost if we had a fit Harry Kewell for the remainder of the season. Especially now Aurellio is out for the season, and with Gonzalez looking worse each game.
It is my profound belief that as soon as he gets anywhere near fit, Kewell will very quickly display the best form he has ever shown in his Liverpool shirt. There will be no dawdling around on the left-wing looking disinterested, he'll be fired up like we've never seen before

bro, u sound as if u r close buddies with kewell but m glad that u r so optimistic about him. but still have the niggling feeling that he needs his teammates to rely on him, the press raving about him and the opposition to have one eye on him all the time on the field to perform to his very best. but at liverpool, he is a bit part player cos the attention is not on him but a certain gerrardinho... when i see him perform when at leeds and with australia especially during the last world cup, i cant help but get worried that he is proving my fears. but then again, i certainly hope that he can put in his best for liverpool in this critical final stretch.
