Man accused of rape claims alleged victim danced sexily with him in Zouk - 15 Feb 2011

Defendant testifies tat woman was dancing sexily, as if seducing him.

A MAN accused of rape was seen dancing with his alleged victim @ a niteclub in video footage played in court yesterday.

The woman put her arms around Ong Mingwee’s shoulders in the clip shown by the defence.

Ong, 28, who took the stand 4 the 1st time yesterday in the ongoing trial, is accused of raping the then-22-year-old @ his Toa Payoh North flat aft meeting her 4 the 1st time @ Zouk.

He claimed she was dancing sexily, as if she was seducing him. He said he felt so embarrassed @ 1 stage, as alot of people were looking @ them dancing, tat he suggested they return 2 the table.

Ong said he was introduced 2 the woman & her girlfriend by a male friend on Feb 12, 2009 when he went to Zouk in Jiak Kim Street with his elder brother.

He said the woman pulled him 2 the dance floor & tat she danced “very sexily” & in a seductive manner.

When she asked him 2 be her boyfriend, he turned her down, he claimed, adding tat she also asked him 2 take her home later.

Aft the club closed, they got in2 a cab. He said he initially asked the taxi driver 2 head 2 her place but changed his mind aft he & the woman kissed.

He claimed tat she agreed 2 go 2 his place.

In his flat, abv the family’s provision shop which he manages, he led her 2 a bedroom.

He then left her there while he went 2 the toilet, & went 4 a smoke.

When he returned, he said, he found her crying & saying tat she was scared & wanted 2 go home.

“I got a shock. I tried 2 calm her down by saying tat I will not hurt or harm her in any way,” he said.

Ong told the court tat he tried 2 hv sex with her but failed the 1st time. Subsequently, when he asked her if he could hv sex with her, she nodded, he claimed. “We started kissing again. She was not crying. I had sex with her.”

Aft sex, he kissed her on the cheek & showed her the way out, he said, adding tat he did not take her home as he was “not in the mood”.

Police arrested him tat evening aft the woman reported tat she had been raped.

Examined by his lawyer Goh Siok Leng, Ong said he had sex with the woman with her consent. He denied raping or threatening her by saying she could not leave unless she had sex with him.

Under cross-examination by Deputy Public Prosecutor Leong Wing Tuck, Ong said tat other than @ the dance floor, the woman had not tried 2 seduce him.

He confirmed tat tis was not the 1st time he had sex with a woman @ his home.

He also said neither he nor the alleged victim was drunk.

When DPP Leong pointed out that 2 prosecution witnesses had given evidence tat the woman had stumbled or was unstable on her feet, Ong said she was walking “very normally”.

He said he wanted 2 take her home as he liked her & wanted 2 spend time with her.

He also claimed tat he had no intention of having sex with her when he took her 2 his flat.

Asked by DPP Leong why he had said he would not “harm or hurt” her, Ong said it was just natural.

“Could it be tat u actually had some ill intent in bringing her 2 yr place?” asked the DPP.

Ong said no.

If convicted, he could be jailed 4 up to 20 years & fined or caned.

The case continues.

Millions of couples, married and singles, gays lesbo too. Had SEX not many liked him, ended up in court. By a girl who, ok i buy his 50% story, he did not force her. Still he got himself all this shits, shame his parents.

I didn't treat her like sex slave: Alleged rapist - 16 Feb 2011

A SELF-EMPLOYED man accused of raping a young woman he met in a club 2 yrs ago yesterday denied tat he had treated the 22-year-old like a sex slave.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Leong Wing Tuck had said 2 Ong Mingwee on the stand during cross-examination tat the man’s actions clearly showed tis. The 28-year-old accused disagreed.

He had taken the woman home aft meeting her @ Zouk in Jiak Kim Street, where they had danced 2gether.

He had testified tat the woman had danced so sexily tat he became embarrassed becos a lot of people were looking @ them.

He was 2 hv taken her home aft the club closed @ abt 4am. Instead, he told the taxi driver 2 go his home in Toa Payoh North, abv his family’s provision shop, which he manages.

He told the court in his defence tat they had kissed in the cab & she had agreed 2 go 2 his place.

The woman’s evidence was heard in camera earlier tis year.

The prosecution’s case is tat the woman made frantic phone calls 2 her mother & her girlfriend on Feb 12, 2009. She was crying & shouting when she told her mother 2 come & get her, saying she was scared.

Ong had spoken 2 the woman’s mother on the phone 4 a while b4 he returned 2 the room where the woman was. He claimed tat both of them were not drunk.

In his statement 2 the police, he claimed tat he had asked her if he could hv sex with her b4 she left & she nodded her head.

Earlier, when asked by DPP Leong why the woman he had invited 2 his flat was crying & had said 3 times tat she was afraid & wanted 2 go home, Ong said he did not know.

Neither did he ask her.

Asked why he kept the woman in the room despite the fact tat she clearly wanted 2 go home, he said: “Becos I like her & I thought I could calm her down.”

He disagreed with the prosecutor tat he had “full control” of the situation.

The DPP had also referred him 2 the toll records detailing a series of phone calls & text messages betw the woman & her girlfriend and mother.

The girlfriend’s first text message 2 the woman was @ 4.43am to find out if she was home yet as it was their practice 2 look out 4 each other 2 ensure they arrived home safely.

The last call was recorded at 6.15am when the mother called Ong, 2 mins aft he called her.

Ong, who looked tired & worried on the stand, had asked for 2 short breaks during the morning’s cross-examination aft disclosing he was “facing pressure” fr the public & the media glare.

If convicted, he could be jailed 4 up to 20 years & fined or caned. The trial continues.

I think he has no case. Usually the lawyer will tell it's a 50/50 case so that you would engage them and they make more money

Sg law protects the women. Even if a lady strips, seduces you, kisses you passionately etc, she can still argue that it does not mean she wants to have sex with you. She can claim she just want petting and nothing else

On the other side of the arguement, it is true that he took advantage of a drunk lady, but that does not mean he rape her, it does not mean she did not agree to sex when she was drunk.

Also, if only she had shower in his house... things could have been different.
