i nearly went to santika for countdown as this is my favourite club. thank goodness i went to hollywood instead.

my friend was there and he managed to escape. but his trip was totally spoilt....

ya we received santika's sms invitation "goodbye santika"

My friend saw the fire first hand coming from behind the stage.Initially she thought that the mgt have arrange some kind of special fire work display but realiase something not right and ran out of the window.
There were 4 of them but 3 of them went to the toilet located in the basement by way of a spiral staircase.
1 of them told the other 2 decease that she go up first cos my friend is a lone at the bar counter.Less than 5mins after she got up the stage and the curtains caught fire very quickly and engulf the whole area in a very short time.
Many near the stage who did not manage to rush out in time due to the many people jamming up near the small entrance got burn.
Most of the dead died from smoke suffocation below the toilet as fire burn up but not down.
Some victims were burn and hardly be recognise but my friend manage to identify her friend bcos she was not burn but dies of suffocation instead.
She have not really identify the actual dead body yet as she is very frighten to see so many dead.She identify her friend from the photos taken by the police.
Most male victim can be easily identify bcos of their wallet in their pocket.
The harder ones to identify are the females as they carry bags.
My friends contacted her friend's family but they refused to believe it as her friends told them that they are going to kanchanaburi instead.
Haiz....really a sad new year beginning for those who loves that love ones.

i was at Muse for the countdown and ard 1am, the music stopped and i thought it was closed. then heard from some guys talkin about Santika.

its very unfortunate that this thing happened and i felt really sad. those victims were just making merry and welcoming the new year.

Thailand always have this type of incident happening!!!!
All bros. are reminded to be careful of the hotel they are staying in!!!!Better recce for escape route beforehand and not when really need it!!!!

Was in Bkk during the new year period. supposed to go santika with my puying but damn heng that day i no mood to cheong so tu n tu until end up go central world countdown, puying sipeh dulan cus she wan to go santika. then go back hotel the staff tell us santika got big fire alot of ppl stuck there. damn heng sia.

Yeah damn sad this thing happened....

Just found out I lost at least 3 frens (thai gals) in the incident....reallly a wake up call......life is full of unexpected stuff....

Feeling damn fucked up now...

to fellow bros out there. anyone heading to bkk during jan29th-feb5th? please feel free to pm me. we go chiong together. the common massages and maybe some clubbing. maybe go to g-clubs such as the pent or carribean. can also go clubbing at the ratchada area too. see got luck or not. LOL. since my birthday i chia a few rounds. steady bo? lol.

and a moment of silence to all casualties of the santika fire. we pray for them. rather sad, it was the last day and the party was called "goodbye santika". though it was their last day, it sounded more serious then that. ironic isn't it? sighs. loved that place though.

seeing the news and some clips online ...realli feel veri blue although i lucky nt to have any frds tht were there at tht unfortunate time .... realli a sad day esp when it happen on the last day of the yr and the club ....realli hope tht there will nt be an increase in death toll ..... learn to treasure the ones around u

Condolences to those who lost someone they knew. Tragic start to 2009.

Shocked with news alert early morning, and even troubling was the sight of shrouded bodies on primetime telly.

FL I did yesterday morning shared with me her relief that she was due to be at Santika's countdown, but (fortunately!) her sg flight could not be changed last minute. And my tg gal was thinking of either Santika or Muse but decided against in favour of another local neighbourhood joint, wary of large crowds expected.

Fire breaks out a Soi Cowboy pub

A fire broke out at a pub on Soi Cowboy early Friday. Nobody was injured.

Police said fire fighters spent about 15 minutes to put out the blaze after it broke out at the Raw Hyde Pub at 2:30 am.
