Re: Lorong 20
In all developing or developed countries, this is very common. Nothing to be amazed about, even the police or media does not even care so why did u?
They are aggressive not because they wanted to but they need to earn as much as possible before their kids end their school. Also, they makes it affordable so that those retire uncles could have entertainment at lower cost, otherwise Singapore would be a boring place and the next thing people will do is to go Batam or Malaysia to spend on sex. Hence our currency will be leak out of the country. I believe this will be critical to the economy, social and political. Therefore such place must exist for a reason. At least they are organise and the charges is reasonable =) |

Re: Lorong 20
in reality, there is no such thing as 100% clean
the water we drink is not 100% clean because it has some minerals 100% clean water is not healthy for human consumption 100% clean water is only for industrial use such as for clean room in the semiconductor industry , disk drive industry if our environment is 100% clean or as clean as a hospital, we can easily get sick if we go overseas because our body resistance is not trained to get used or to tolerate some measure of dirt or filth as the Chinese saying goes - if the river is clean, fish cannot survive in it |

Re: Lorong 20
Braddahs who say nothing wrong with the video? How many gals working GL in the video? Some taking over shops and offering services inside the shop. How many Punjabs do you see walking around - nothing wrong with non East Asians but want to see expat type well heeled people not panhadlers and pickpocket types. How to turn GL into an upscale worldclass shopping area? When I look at the video the elements are not there for urban renewal regentrification of GL and turning it into a world class commerical/shopping area. This may be be by far the most ambitious project for SG in history to clean GL up. Ideally a new mall with two five star hotels and upscale Zagats and Michelin rated restaurants would be a good turnaround. If you want vice should move it to more industrial areas away from the public.

Re: Lorong 20
Braddah, the average Joe can be accomodated if we move the vice red light district to inustrial areas where activity is not to be seen. The goal is to raise the prestige of SG as Asia's World City. When you have prime land such as GL being used for the wrong purpose you hamper the effort to obtain that objective. I beleive in trickle down economics. If we turn GL into a high class prestigious address where the well heeled wine dine and shop then then the economics will trickle down to the average Joe in SG. This is not about changing GL to a high class vice area but about cleaning it up for the benefit of SG society. Braddah, there are benefits to all. Net net you will benefit from it.
