Know am being over optimistic but would like to know if I could do so

yes only if he tried n failed n u both pretend nothing happen.don't be too close for a few mths after tht if he stops then u can still be friends. i have 1 success in a situation like this v long ago. now we are still gd friends meet up once a mth for lunch.
