The one thing you need to be aware, is that immediately after the procedure your balls still have some leftover "sperm" which can still impregnate a woman. It can take up to 3 months for your sperm to be totally sterile.

Speak to your urologist to find out more details.

Yes,that is what my doc told me.They wil make 2 small incisions on both sides of ur scrotum and GA will be administered

The procedure process quite straight forward.

Book an appt for polyclinic --> ask for referral letter to do vasectomy --> they will ask u to select a hospital of your choice --> choose the nearest hospital.

take note that the next appt with urologist is quite long. so when they give u a date, you can login to healthhub sg and choose an earlier date if you want to get it done asap, u need to go through the usual consultation before they give u a date for the operation.

Now the actual day:

1) Depends on your procedure, LA or GA. if GA u gotta fast and take blood test and precheck yada yada before the actual day..

2) I picked LA, because i don't like the feeling of waking up feeling nauseous and giddy.

3) u need to suffer 2 jabs near your balls area.. because u need to numb that area. op is close to 1hr, u will be place in observation ward for almost 1hr.. u need to pee before u can leave.

4) Likely 7-8 days of hospitalization leave.

I also go with LA, and the pulling effect during operation is damn jialat.

Mc for a week.

Pay nothing as all covered under Medisafe.

After the jap, doc will cut open small hole, than will start to look for the small vain (tube) that deliver sperm. Doc need to pull out the vain, cut and tie knot on both cutted edges. Only than will stitch back the opening.....

Jap only num the outer layer so you don't feel pain cut opening but not the inner vain.

During recovery, the pain is not the wound is the pulling part.....u cannot laugh out loud or even sneeze....is going to cause u pain. I have to wear sarong for a week cause even with slight touch also is painful.

But doc said is really depend on individual pain tolerance.

During opening, doc keep asking if I can take the pain, if can't take it they can switch to GA, but I'll need to be ready to deal with the side effects after wake up as didn't fast (vomit or something).
