It wouldn't exactly be called cheating, as she did got married to your friend and hence asked for a divorce subsequently. Cheating cases will be more appropriate in the case that when the man get married to the foreign woman in return for an agreed sum of money with the main idea that the woman can apply for PR status.
(BTW I'm not defending her actions, just interpreting by the book)

If your friend has really decided to get divorced (meaning no further chance for reconciliation or negotiation) than he can actually try to write in to ICA for a withdrawl of his sponsorship + feedback his suspicion (make sure its stated clearly as suspicion and not a fact as he can get sued for defamation).

Honestly no man likes being made-used of, especially by a woman, but try to weigh the pros & cons first, meaning it is really worth it to try and make it difficult at this stage?? Take note she can also make it difficult for your friend by making exhorbitant claims for lump sum maintenance since they don't have kids. The subsequent negotiations, PTC or mediation sessions at the Family Court will be the really vexing part.

Sometimes in life we have to learn to move on........althou we might be too angry or reluctant to.........

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner

Another bad loser (or his clone) in the VT relationship game has just zapped me with the following message:

"If you want to marry greedy vietnamese as wife, no friends will attend your wedding dinner. Viet gals is the worst ..must feed their families somemore !"

No ball la. If got ball, just leave your nick behind la. Loser.... Loser....

whatever your comments, I can tell you this: I am enjoying my relationship with Vietnamese women.

I heard from my sis-in-law about her friend who is holding PR but later on divorce with her husband.

This friend of her got her PR status afer marrying a local singapore guy and even have a job in Singapore....later on they end up with divorce (near period of PR expiry) and ICA told her that her PR will not be renew once it expired.....but they can give her a chance to allow her to renew her PR provided that her next PR, she will need to stay in Singapore till it expired....once she leave Singapore...her PR will be revoke....

Why is it so? I totally have no idea....IMHO for those foreigner girl who actually divorce after getting PR is stupid....they should endure abit and get Singapore Citizen before they do that....

Be smart never marry a viet dog as wife, they only interested in your money in contrast Sg women is much better than viet dogs.

Anyway everybody is entitled to their own opinions and I guess this guy might have had a very bad experience with a vietnamese gal which made him so persistent to dissuade all the viet-lovers in SBF

But I really got to admit that I really admire his persistence to constantly log in everyday just to zap all the viet-lovers in viet-related threads.. At least he did not resort to vulgarities.

Pai-say to disappoint you bro but unfortunately I'm not a lawyer, its just that I have the opportunity to deal with contractual laws & legal issues thru-out my 20+ years of working life

I have to admit that what I know is only very superficial as its really takes a trained & qualified mind to be able to interpret the intricacies of law, simply meaning I'm really not qualified to provide consultation

To me "all men are brothers" and of cos if my superficial knowledge can help I will try my very best to reply, in the same way that I have also benefited from many postings from other bros in other matters that I am ignorant of, swee bo???

This was why ICA kept it open-ended and hence they have the leeway to approve or not to approve any renewal applications. The reason they insisted on her staying in Singapore during the period of the PR is to ensure that she is a valid contributor in our economy and not those WL that needs the PR to ensure that they are on the "safe" side when being checked.

Most applications and renewals are handled by humans, hence each result of the application may differ from another even tho the situation might be the same, just as the same some criminal laws are still subject to the interpretation of the presiding judge even tho its already in black & white

Actually quite a number of the foreigners do not know that they can actually apply for Citizenship on their own once they already have the PR for some time, maybe fortunately for us......

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner

I am currently in HCMC. The raining season just started and rains heavily everyday for a couple of hours. But still damn hot in the morning. After the rain then felt the temperature more tolerable.

Cheers.....

Bro, this is normal. Every year is the same. When i was based there last time, outside my house at Q.BT is always like a swimming pool after raining. The only difference is that HCMC and the neighbouring Mekong Delta region has been hit by typhoon a few times these 2 to 3 years. It is expected that around 5 to 8 typhoon will hit vietnam this year.

Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner

To most viets now, Singapore is around the same as the USA. The following are some of the reasons some viets gave for their liking for Singapore.

(1) Singapore and USA are around the same league, both are 1st world country.

(2) Singapore is near to Vietnam

(3) Easy entry into Singapore as Vietnamese need no VISA for entry as tourist for less than 30 days

(4) Singapore relaxed immigration laws allow educated vietnamese to work in Singapore. For the uneducated ladies or normal educated ladies, marrying a singapore man to gain resident status is easy. After gaining resident status, they can even bring their parents over to stay for up to 5 years.

(5) Its easier to earn more money in Singapore

(6) Singapore Private Schools easily take in Vietnamese students. So its a good avenue for Vietnamese students who is not able to gain entry into their national universities.

Of course there are many other reasons. But these few reasons are some that i have gathered after talking to both educated and uneducated vietnamese in Vietnam.

Singapore currency is also catching with US currency too. S$1.35 = USD $1.00.
