Rony's kwetiau goreng is damn good; really got the "wok hei".... I've only tried the one at A2 though, and everytime sure request to add lup cheong... Hehe..
YES, Rony's stir-fried dishes got the "wok hei" - and it comes from using charcoal - both at A2 and at Batam center. That aroma ever so subtly hits one's senses (無影中的炭鍋香). But somehow, after patronising so many times, I just find something missing at A2 outlet's dishes ... just missing something... so didn't write FR to share with samsters.
add green chilli puree not right... add lime also not right...add more lup cheong not right... add more pork lard (豬油炸) not right... tried different noodles same thing - something missing Didn't know what it was until last night when I ate at Rony's @ Batam center (posting FR soon)
I usually give new hotel chance as they still in the midst of stabilising.
A patient and open minded person you are.
Thumbs up!

Hehehe..i guess i already replied you 2 days ago..lol :
However I believe in 1998 the rupiah was almost at 12000 rupiah to 1 SGD. I did benefit from that.
I see a lot of people (Sillyporean) make lots of money during those time,hehehe...

There is not much diff, juz tat i feel permata is the only one using flat + fixed pricing, meaning they will juz price the gals on the regular price u normally get for diff categories (e.g. 800k-milfs, 1-1.2juta-SYTs) so its a matter of take it or leave it. Whereas, most if not all other joints can fluctuate the prices irregularly for diff gals based on many factors like nego skills, with or w/o cab/ojek, regular customer discounts out of goodwill, etc
Do note that Permata Indah pricing is not non-negotiable. Just like Gold Bird.
Every booking joint is operate in a different business characteristic under different concept, understand them well and the upperhand of bargaining will lie in your hand.
Just an opinion.

Noted with many thanks.
Didnt know that area is such a paradise until you says it,hehehe....about time i slowly venture out to that area more. Your post has just been bookmarked for my future reference,hehehe...

No wonder you all were talking something about chap chai when i was around...lol. Hmm...,like that i will need to go learn Bahasa Indo since i seems well known for not knowing the language. So many trips to Batam, but i am still too lazy to learn. *in deep thoughts*
Currently in the ferry to harbourbay..love it when there is not much people. Can take my time, if not have to race when reach lol...I like to binge eat everytime in batam..lol
I mean how often does one see BBQ pork in a Muslim country? Very rare, i think...most of the time will be BBQ fish, chicken or maybe even lamb, but PORK!! Phew!
Cheers!
Actually bro, this is quite common in north sumatra, a.k.a the land of karo. That dishis actually named Babi Panggang Karo (BBQ Pork of Karo). North sumatra region mostly inhabited by Batak Tribe. This tribe of people does eat pork & dog meat except some minority who are actually muslim.
Not to mention, Medan, the capital city of north sumatra province which has more chinese (hokkien) than batam's chinese population, is the paradise of chinese food in indonesia.

Like I've mentioned earlier, I managed to know this lady (29) through some social networking site while in Singapore. She was kind enough to help me rent a car and be my supir. We exchange photos so we know what we are expecting from each other. But what suprised me is her 40C boobies. DAMN!! They are exceptionally firm for it's size. Oh yeah, that means I've scored!
Day started with her picking me up at the ferry terminal, go for lunch at ibu joko's then we had mani/pedi session. A lil pampering which seems to work for me. Then we proceed to check-in at the hotel. I requested to take a look at BIZ hotel's suite rooms because they are not available via online booking. For 800k, living room with a normal shower & bedroom with a jacuzzi. Pretty good I would say. Maybe for next time.
So we lie down on the bed and staring at her huge boobs with her clothes on, things start to get warm in the room. Yada yada yada, we end up being totally naked. I'm a sucker for BIG boobs and this is excellent for me. Kissed like no tomorrow and she starts to get extremely horny. Even worst than me but sadly no condom so we exercise self-control. But she made me promise that at night to buy condoms. Oh hell why not?!
We went out for a haircut at citywalk for myself only. Young small built chinese lady, but good enough skills to make me wanna sleep with the head massages. Only cost 80k. Worth every penny of it. Then we proceed to search for ANAH, wah jialat so hard to find. But yeah it's worth it. The stingray is succulent and soft. Their specialty is the sauce the use to marinate it. Ate with a generous bowl of mee soto ayam, total 120k for 3 stingrays 2 mee soto 3 drinks.
After, we went for sports massage & scrub. Clean & good massage no hanky panky at all so we actually requested for a couple room and we took the liberty to undress each other. Awwwwwwwwwesome! Them boobies OH MY GOD!! I can never get enough of them.
Back to hotel quickly stop by C.K and buy condom and once we reach the room, actions begins. I've got nothing else to say about her. But she keep waking me up for sex in the middle of the night. Before sleep 2 rounds, while sleeping another 2 rounds. I actually have to go to the hotel's 24hr minimart at 4.20am just to buy another box of condom. This woman is WILD!! And she's not stopping. I'm gonna expect another round after breakfast later..
Tata guys.
You've just hit the jackpot.. so envy of your experience..
If i am you (narrating myself as a newbie),i will not grab a full day taxi from the harbour itself. 2nd,i will definitely not do so if i fail to secure a GOOD BARGAIN from the very beginning (unable to have a 30k taxi fare,yes..not 40k or even 50k). 3rd,if i am new and its my 1st travel to Batam,i will choose ONLY Formosa Hotel as advise by most of the senior batam travellers in this thread.
Completely agree bro, i know i screwed up when i took up his offer, i think i was abit nervous and too keen to get things done ASAP.

So i dont really have a choice but to take the taxi at 50k/60k to Formosa Hotel. No,i dont need to ask the current taxi driver who already "chop" me once when i took his service from Harbour Bay to Formosa Hotel for a full day taxi usage and especially not from one that is so hard up becos i know if i have further transaction with this "guy",every other things thereafter will never come cheap.
Yea this is pretty much what happened, the taxi driver will try to chop u from that point onwards when u take up his offer. Luckily i did not agree with all his suggestion, including bringing me to eat seafood, which im quite certain he will be suggesting golden prawn lol, the famous tourist trap restaurant.

Will definitely book formosa on my next trip lol.. i prefer to get started early, so any early check in before 12am will definitely in be in my favor.

Maybe even shopping or movie at night until next morning send me back to Harbour to head to Sillypore
I agree, newbies need to be firm in instructing ur supir where to bring u to, don't let him lead u on. Where u want to go for massage, where u want to go eat, which joints u want to visit, etc. Have to say i didnt do that well with regards to the eating part and massage part, but luckily i stand firm on not visiting some joints he suggested, well in this case, Morena joints.

But its one of the lowest in pricing under the same category kind of top class massage. In my point of view, this is not a mistake. Its always good to try all categories of massage in Batam which will enrich your experience in your future trips to Batam.
Thats reassuring to hear, with regards to how much i paid at Sawadee massage, i can't really recall, but its definitely below 200k.

The ikan pari must be real good. Too bad they weren't open the last trip I was there.
Ikan Pari
One of the most popular BBQ fish in spore, msia and batam is none other than ikan parit (stingray) (魔鬼鱼) as its bones are soft and the meat is also tasty.
It is easy to be eaten too as its shape is flat.
However different country prepare the dish differently.
In spore & msia the stingray is bbq/burnt with lots of sambal belacan (shrimp paste) and taste more salty.
But in batam, the ikan parit is cook by bbq with less belacan but the belacan taste differently from spore/msia ones as the spices use in Indonesia is very much different from spore/msia.
Overall batam ikan bakar taste less hot and less salty than in spore/msia.
Noted that same food but use different kinds of cooking method the taste is different like deep frying, shallow frying, roast, grill, boil, steam, barbequing, stewing, etc
Usually ikan goreng (炸鱼) is more fragrance and crispy to eat than ikan bakar (烧鱼)
But for ikan bakar more of the nutrients and original sweetness of the fish can still be tasted...
Lucky you, picked a girl from Gold Bird. In my opinion this is one of Batam's most stable joint. Dont worry about not being able to bargain down the price from Gold Bird, cos even the most experience bros will find it hard to bring down the price.Believe me, i studied all OKT's characteristic in nearly all the booking joints i visit and the hardest nut to crack is none other than from Gold Bird. Its the only joint that even i have to come out with many tactics to bring down its price, worse than Permata Indah's mami. Chinese speaking SYT in Gold bird usually cost 1 mill and up,so its fair from a newbie's perspective. You visited other joints, you should see their pricing versus girl quality to understand...hehehe...
Luckily i personally requested the driver to bring me to goldbird after visiting a few joints and can't decide to book any ceweks

I'm not sure about the name, but the way they operate is that, they will bring in a variety of dishes to put on your table, den they will charge u according to what u eat. I'm not that comfortable with that arrangement so i just ate some rice, a plate of eggs and a plate of fried chicken, thankfully my girl was also reluctant to just dig in, she just ate whatever i picked. I guess even she knows that place is a tourist trap. For that i was charged 100k.

Want a better bbbj or bj,you will have a better chances with older MILFs becos while they may not have the look, they will try to supplement their lack of looks with better service.
Lucky lucky hahaha hope can try some "commando style" cewek in the future haha, for all my 4 shots i have to be the one initiating, but i see a few lucky bros whose girl wake them up in the middle of the night for sex hahaha. I guess that when it comes to how most cewek will be reluctant in providing BJ.
I can live with it too.

Solution : Put a Do Not Disturb sign outside the door knob in future to inform them not to make up your room or better still ,inform reception of your late check out. I will do both tho,hehehe...kiasu ma...lol.
Bro nono, the jia lat thing that happened is that i was there for a 3D2N stay, the incident happened on the 2nd day of my stay, i know they are a new hotel, but this kind of mistake is simply too jia lat..

I Recce abit from my walk from Da vienne hotel to NHM and back. I have to say the surrounding around Formosa is the best, lots of massage places, and eating places. I also bought some tibits and food to enjoy while eating tv from a mama shop nearby.
Thanks for ur reply bro nono, u basically wrote yet another mini guide for newbies in ur reply to me.

Santaria kopitiam
I usually like to go to Santaria kopitiam to have my ikan bakar meal. It has two branch one same row as new berlian and the other one is across the street. The boss is a old Chinese uncle. The bbq ikan pari small portion only cost me 30k = S$3 compare to spore selling S$10 compare to JB selling rm18=S$6
There are also many other popular dishes like the otak otak (wrap grill seafood paste) which taste very good and price reasonable too. They also sell all kinds of fried "carbohydrate" like bihun, mee, rice, kwetiau, etc.
If you are soup lover, they got sell :
1) oxtail soup (sop buntut)
2) mutton soup (sop kambing),
3) meat soup (sop daging)
4) village chicken soup (sop ayam kampong)
5) fish soup (sop ikan)
6) yellow spicy chicken soup (soto ayam) which is cook with lontong & turmeric
If you are fish lover, then can choose from the following:
1) Ikan bawal putih (BBQ white Chinese pomfret)
2) Ikan bawal hitam (BBQ black Chinese pomfret)
3) Ikan Kakap merah (BBQ red snapper)
4) Ikan Selar (BBQ scad fish)
5) Ikan Pari (BBQ stingray) - in my opinion the best...
6) Ikan Lebam (BBQ rabbit fish) - signature dish
And if you like food other than fish you can order the following:
1) Tahu bakar
2) Tempe bakar
3) Ayam bakar (grill chicken)
4) Udang bakar (grill prawn)
5) Sotong bakar (grill squid with special chili sauce)
Drinks wise the popular ones are teh obeng, kopi-o, es jeruk (orange juice), kelapa (coconut) and many other fruit juices.
In spore/msia, tea with ice is call tea-o ice
But in batam, they will not understand.
So you have to call it "teh obeng" (sweeten ice tea) Actually the meaning of obeng means screwdriver, don't know how the hell they get this name for tea o ice ?
They will normally brew the jasmine tea with sugar syrup and stir to dissolve before mixing with ice cube.
Two good points about this kopitiam is that it has free Wi-Fi and opens 24hours...

Not so sure about the story behind it. But it sounds more like how I order "teh peng" in singapore which means tea with milk + ice. I am assuming they copy that dialect of "peng" and it eventually become teh o beng.

I like Santaria!
Also ayam bakar is good. Perfect for a snack late at night. They also prepare a variety of "Es", which are good to refresh the mouth.
Santaria is my favorite place to bring girls I meet in Newton or No Name, say after 3am, before proceeding to my room, because it's good, it's in front of Formosa, and it's open 24/24.
Wifi is also rather fast.
The old Chinese uncle is not so old. Just not young ok... He's a good guy.
For at least one year, during all my visits to Batam, I kept wondering what was the annoying repeated automatic "music", which I heard all nights there, like a "musical box". One night I understood it was the boss, hypnotized by his small vintage electronic game. He never stopped that for months, according to what they told me.
Last time I was there he wasn't playing though.
City Central also has limited TV channels, about 20 plus and no football channel too.
Just to add.
Yes, usually all this smaller type one will not have.

Some parts of Indonesia like in Java or Sumatra whereby most of the Indonesian Chinese are unable to converse in mandarin are due to the fact that Chinese language are not allowed to be learnt in school, until recently few years ago.
However majority of the chinese in riau islands especially the 4Bs like batam, bintan, balai, batu can understand and speak fluent mandarin. The reason is because these places are close to spore and are able to receive spore channel 8. The effect of TV broadcast is very powerful. By watching mandarin TV program, they will gradually pick up the language unknowingly.
Just to share a tip : If a person wish to learn a language, by just looking at the language book translation is not effective. The person may forget after some time if the words that he learned was not put into practice.
However if the person frequently watch a TV/video program of the new language, he/she will be able to learn and absorb the new language faster because not only he/she sees the subtitles, hear the pronounciation of the speaker and he/she also watch the drama in action. His sense of sight and hearing are used concurrently.
Therefore if you want to learn bahasa, the best way is to watch Indonesian drama series or sinetron spoken in bahasa with subtitles, which there are plenty in the youtube.
Besides, once you master the basics, try to start speaking with your cewek, supir, okt, vendors, strangers, etc so that exchange conversation can help you to remember the language easier. Do not be afraid that you may speak wrongly. Because success always start with failure...
