Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Not the best performance but we keep winning.

It’s important that we keep on City’s tail. Really worried about Firmino though - he looks completely out of form. Midfield injuries are again a worry. Thought Shaqiri and Sturridge were good. Gini absolute jet when he came on and liked what I saw from Fabinho. An eccentric performance from Salah but so glad he got a goal!

Our defense should also get a big shout - 3 goals conceded in 9 games is top draw

We move on to Red Star next.

Seems like winning by thin margin won't bring the team far if they just want to keep pace with Man City at the top...they have to start banging in the goals like Man City...pointless to end the season level on points but to miss out due to goal difference...yesterday match was really hard to watch...

Most important is 3 points.

There still plenty of games to play and long season till May 2019.

So keeping close remain undefeated is important.

We just hope City cracked and we dun.

Well done our 10 clean sheets so far. Half way to my prediction of cleaned sheets.

I do get the concerns. And I can't help feeling we're riding our luck a bit.

The common consensus is that we're nowhere near firing like last season and that Mo/Bobby/Sadio aren't nearly as dynamic. Yes, thats true. For whatever reason the fluency just isn't there at the moment.

But I'm noticing other differences becoming a more worrying trend..mainly that we are not as quick or crisp at playing through the lines. The one time we really did it last night with the Gomez ball to Shaqiri and on to Salah we scored...and a goal reminiscent of so many last season. But we seem to be much slower at working the ball higher up the pitch, and I'm beginning to wonder if this is tactical?

It seems so un-Klopp like but you would have to wonder if Jurgen has concluded we can't win the title with full throttle football, and has called for a more measured approach? Our vastly improved defence and goalkeeper enables us to play that way now, lower risk football.

I'd be surprised if it was a deliberate tactic by Klopp and he seemed as frustrated as the rest of us last night at the sloppy play and poor decision making. But sloppy play and poor decision-making wouldn't be a byproduct of any system or approach.

Maybe Klopp has decided lower risk football is the way to go and that full court pressing is unsustainable over the course of a season? I'd prefer to think we just haven't caught fire yet though. That the hangover from the intensity of last season, the WC, and the almost constant football for a lot of players has left us a little de-energised. But once it clicks we will be firing on all cylinders every game. Hard to know?

Anyway, maybe I am over-thinking it a bit. There is still a hell of a lot more to be positive than negative about. If we were winning games 4-0, 5-0, but dropping stupid points the following weeks we will not have progressed. If we win every game 1-0 to the end of the season and end up winning the title nobody will care. That includes the return at the Etihad

After 30 years i guess the end justifies the means

3 points is what matters. But Pools forwards gotta start banging in goals. Man C got a vast goal difference.

Klopp explained in his post match press conference that his team can only play gengenpressing style if the other team also wants to play soccer.

But if the opposing team sets up to play defensively then gengenpressing cannot work as they can easily overcome this tactic by play long overhead balls..... so Liverpool had to adapt to more "controlled" tactics against these defensive teams.

Klopp is satisfied to win ugly by 1 goal margins tather than rack up rugby scorelines.

Looks like opposing teams have figured out the weaknesses of Klopp's gengenpressing style.

Yes noticed that he was irritated and frustrated most of the night...

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

Up against a pub team but i really enjoyed the return of our fluidity!

Fabinho and Shaqiri were great! This formation suits us against weak teams.

Virgil with the captain's armband

PSG and Napoli draw with us going back to the top of the table.

Things looking more peachy now

We move on to Cardiff next.

Great win by Liverpool in front of the home crowd and all front 3 scoring. Mo could have had hat trick。

Top of the group.

Should have been 5 or 6 and once again wasteful finishing against a weaker team.
Shaqiri might just be our creative player as he produces sleek passes and has good vision.
