yes bro AC. de gea is definitely a great signing. i've watched from youtube quite a few clips of him. i believe that the 17-18m pounds that united are paying for him is going to be really worth it. he will turn out to be world class. .

also wish all the best for thomas kuszczak. he's had many years at united. it takes a really special keeper to be able to dislodge VDS. even forster, who's arguably a better keeper than kuszczak, decided to leave end of last season cos he knew he couldn't replace VDS.

young is a very good addition to provide competition to nani especially with giggs nearly reaching the end of his playing career (on the pitch i mean ). hope nani gets up, face the competition from young, and fight for his place in the starting line-up.

now let's wait and see who sir alex will buy to fit in the last piece of the puzzle to replace scholes - a creative midfielder.

United wrap up £17m De Gea deal

Manchester United have sealed the £17million swoop of David De Gea from Atletico Madrid after he passed a medical and signed a five-year deal.

Sir Alex Ferguson revealed at the end of last season that he had identified the promising keeper as the man to replace the retired Edwin van der Sar at Old Trafford.

A deal had been on hold while David de Gea competed for Spain at the European Under-21 Championship and he helped his country to glory in Denmark last weekend.

The 20-year-old underwent a medical earlier this week and has expressed his delight at securing a move to the Premier League champions.

"I feel very proud and I can't wait to start playing here," De Gea told MUTV.

"When a club the size of Manchester United comes in for you it obviously makes you very, very happy.

"I saw their interest as an extra motivation to work even harder to show off my ability.

"It's a great privilege to be part of a club like United and I'm keen to do my best and show what I can do."

Yeap definitely a great keeper in the making..

The only few weaknesses is his lack of size but should be a keeper of Casillas mould.

Let's see how he fare in the coming season, but don't expect too much here 1st 2 seasons should be nice for him to gel..

Not sure if Sir Alex is gonna sign another centre mid.. but i hope cleveley can step into the team.. it has been some time since a homegrown youngster broke into the team.. the last 1 johnny evans?

And hopefully anderson will have a consistent season and try to fill scholes big shoes..

Nasri 'to press for United move'

Arsenal have rejected a £20million bid for Samir Nasri, but the Frenchman will reportedly tell Arsene Wenger he wants to join Manchester United.

Nasri only has a year left on his contract at the Emirates, and is yet to agree a new deal, prompting interest from a number of clubs. United and Manchester City are both interested, while it was reported on Tuesday that Chelsea had asked to be kept informed of developments as well.

Several reports on Thursday suggest that United made a formal offer of £20million, which was turned down, and agreed not to make the negotiations public. It seems that the bid has escaped into the public domain after Nasri himself was made aware of it.

However, The Daily Telegraph reports that Nasri is 'ready to tell Arsene Wenger he wants to move to Manchester United' when he returns to Arsenal on Thursday, despite a contract offer of around £90,000-a-week.

The paper reports: 'Talks between third parties connected to United and Nasri discussed the player's situation last month and, having spent £49.8 million already this summer on Ashley Young, Phil Jones and David de Gea, Ferguson is ready to leave chief executive David Gill, currently on holiday, to thrash out a deal with Arsenal for the France international.

'Any deal for Nasri is almost certain to be protracted, though, with Wenger in no mood to make it easy for the former Marseille midfielder to leave.'

The Times backs up the theory that this could be a drawn-out process: 'If Wenger admits defeat in his efforts to keep Nasri, he is likely to demand between £25 million and £30 million from a Premier League rival - a huge sum given the player's contractual status - but the manager's strong preference would be to sell to a foreign club.

'Real, Inter and Milan are thought to be monitoring developments with interest. City, who signed Gaël Clichy, the France left back, from Arsenal this week, could lodge a bid.'

WESLEY SNEIJDER is ready to sign for Manchester United this week in a club record £35million deal.

And the Inter Milan midfielder is expected to agree a bumper contract that would eclipse even Wayne Rooney's £220,000 a week.

A team-mate said: "Everyone expects Wesley's move to United to be announced soon, maybe as early as Wednesday."

Sneijder's arrival will take United boss Alex Ferguson's summer spending to more than £85m - just £5m more than he picked up when he sold Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid in July 2009.

Inter are resigned to cashing in on the 27-year-old Dutchman.

The source added: "He has even spoken to Dutch international team-mate Nigel de Jong to find out where are the best places to live in Manchester.

"It all looks imminent, no matter what Inter or Wesley may say in public.

"It seems Inter want to sell but don't want to admit it, while Wesley wants to go but doesn't want to say it. It's a good move for him and good business for Inter."

Sneijder joined the Italians from Real Madrid in 2009 and helped them win the Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia in his first season in Milan.

But injuries restricted him to just 25 appearances last term, as Inter finished runners-up to neighbours AC in the race for the Serie A crown.

Sir Alex Ferguson has denied any interest in Wesley Sneijder amid reports of a £35m deal being close.

The Manchester United manager has been reading English press reports that the Dutchman has agreed terms with the Old Trafford club, but Ferguson claims there is no truth in the rumours.

"I keep reading about this, there's absolutely nothing at all to that [reports of United's interest in the player]," he told ESPN Soccernet Press Pass. "First of all I don't think Inter are prepared to sell him anyway.

"You get conjecture and you get speculation every week in newspapers unfortunately. And we have to answer these for some reason - why, I don't know, but we have to find a reason without adding insult to any particular club, or embarrassing any particular player. There's nothing we can do about it."

Reports had suggested that United chief executive David Gill has been in Milan thrashing out a deal with club and player, but United have since confirmed that Gill was heading to Zurich for a European Club Association meeting.

Inter have insisted that Sneijder is not for sale but rumours persist that the Italian club are desperate to sell to fund a move for Javier Pastore.

Manchester United consult finance experts to help Sneijder deal: No-one giving up

Manchester United are consulting financial experts in an effort to reach terms with Inter Milan star Wesley Sneijder.
The Sunday Mirror says Soren Lerby, Sneijder’s agent, flew to London to meet United officials on April 2, before ­United’s 4-2 win at West Ham.

The deal is still on but with the 27-year-old midfielder being paid £250,000-a-week at Inter, ­negotiations to seal the best ­financial package continue. Tax experts in England and Europe are being consulted.

Clearly, United know of ­Sneijder’s salary range – but the Old Trafford hierarchy are ­equally well aware that there are relative pay scales at their own club to consider.

They have made it clear to ­Sneijder and his advisers that there has to be leeway in both the player’s demands and the fee wanted by Inter.

The Italians publicly maintain that they are planning to keep the Dutch star but, privately, they ­accept a deal with United could still be struck.

United have not allowed the politics to derail their approach, even if ­nailing the final part of the ­transaction is taking time.

A source close to the deal said: “It was always going to be a ­difficult deal from the start. But there is ­definitely an ambition on both sides to work it all out.

“Whether it will ­come off, we just don’t know. There is still a long way to go... but ­nobody is giving up.’’

Jose Mourinho has the strength of personality 2 make a clean break fr Ferguson. Carlos Queiroz is friends with Jorge Mendes - a must if a club r 2 make significant purchases. Pep Guardiola plays the most sophisticated football of the modern era, which plays 2 those under the misapprehension tat ManU r an attacking side these days.

All 3 would ordinarily be worthy candidates, & it would not be a surprise if they were given the chance 2 take over. However, should any of them get the gig, it's a grand mistake. Consistently overlooked, there's a genius who is rarely discussed. If there's some1 who deserves another shot @ the big time, & particularly @ England's biggest club, it's Phil Brown.

Phil Brown is a man with a proven record of success. Well, he's never been relegated. Fr the Premier League. Most people 4get it, but Hull City were in a position 2 maintain top-flight status when he was put on gardening leave. The club had plenty of winnable games left. Iain Dowie replaced him, & @ the time pointed 2 his track record 2 justify the appointment. An error, obviously: Dowie had been relegated as a player & manager many, many times. It was his ticket with Alan Shearer tat took Newcastle down, saving Hull City, & he inevitably delivered relegation @ the KC Stadium. Phil Brown was a man who kept Hull City up on a tight budget in his only complete Premier League season, & was betrayed by his chairman. Taking over ManU would surely set the record straight on his abilities as a manager.

A ManU manager needs a strong, unique spirit. Jose Mourinho is his own man, but has built tat reputation on a basis of consistent, high-level success. An unusual season 4 Mourinho is 1 without a trophy. His self-belief is now a by-product of continued achievement. Phil Brown's confidence is such tat he doesn't need trinkets & trophies 2 take firm decisions in a crisis. He's assured of his own greatness regardless of events. Tis man inspires thru motivational osmosis.

Nowadays, a ManU manager has 2 work within the new constraints of Glazernomics, spending big on potential & making the most of bargains. Ferguson has certainly bought the former in the devastating beauty of Fabio & Rafael, & the Sapphic delights of Javier Hernandez. He remains capable of securing the finest young players, but @ the other end of the age spectrum, his relatively recent signing of Michael Owen is a disappointment.

With tis in mind, imagine how Phil Brown would reignite Michael Owen if just afforded the opportunity chance. When Owen signed 4 ManU, it was Hull City who were the other club in 4 him. Phil Brown, Alex Ferguson, both aft Michael Owen: 4give the cliche, but great minds think alike.

The mind hasn't waned. Watching Phil Brown a fortnight ago, training with his Preston side, it was impossible not 2 think abt wat the public hv been missing. He was taking part in a gruelling regime with the army with his Preston North End squad. Jock Wallace's practice of watching pre-season with a demented, cruel glare is not 4 him. Phil Brown mucks in - he's happiest when he's with the players, 1 of the team.

Furthermore, Ferguson can command respect using his years of success, & Guardiola can simply point to 2 Champions Leagues, but they still maintain a Curzon Line betw player & manager. Phil Brown is a different specimen, a risk-taking maverick willing 2 sublimate his ego in the quest 4 team spirit.

If you don't believe in his inspirational powers, consider his last attempt 2 raise the morale of his players in their final season in the Premier League. Taking a stroll around Hull city, the story goes tat the squad came across a woman ready 2 commit suicide on the Humber Bridge. It's claimed tat Phil Brown talked her back 2 safety, using his noted spiritual insight & persuasion. If Barcelona r so clear of any other side in terms of both team spirit & technical ability, it must be tat only Phil Brown's mind games can deliver a similar mentality, the only man capable of getting within touching distance of the Catalan side.

Phil Brown: @ Hull City, betrayed by those closest 2 him, & a man who performed Lazarus-like reincarnation upon Geovanni. He delivered success on such a tight budget - 2 which the only comparable achievement is the Feeding Of The 5,000. Scholes: Modric most impressive

Paul Scholes insists he does not need replacing, but of the midfielders linked with Manchester United, Luka Modric has impressed him the most.

United chief David Gill has revealed United are looking to bring in one more new face this summer, with a creative midfielder strongly rumoured to be on their wishlist following Scholes' retirement at the end of last season.

Modric, Inter Milan ace Wesley Sneijder and Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri are the names that have been most heavily linked with a move to the Premier League champions.

And while Scholes feels any one of the three players would be a welcome addition at Old Trafford, the 36-year-old admits Croatia international Modric has particularly caught his eye.

"The ones who have been linked all look like they are capable of playing for United," he told Manchester Evening News.

"The three linked the most with United are all great top players. Of the three Modric, when we've played against him, has been the one I have been most impressed with.

"Whenever we played Tottenham, he was the one who stood out."

He added: "But there are no guarantees. You could sign Sneijder for £35-40m and it might not work out. He went to Real Madrid and it didn't quite work out for him there, so you just don't know."

The future of Modric remains uncertain, with Spurs maintaining he will not be sold at any price after refusing him a move to London rivals Chelsea.

While Scholes admires the 25-year-old, he insists finding a replacement for himself is not a necessity for United, pointing out that he has not been as prominent in Sir Alex Ferguson's team over recent years.

He added: "I don't think it is a big deal really replacing me because I haven't been the type of player people are talking about for the last four or five years.

"I haven't been scoring goals or been the main playmaker in the team for a while. I don't think I actually need replacing in that way at all.

"I wasn't the pulling the strings anymore, definitely in the last two years and probably even since I was 31-32. I haven't been as prominent in the side. I wasn't scoring the goals and I wasn't making the goals."

Scholes is adamant United will pose a major threat next season whether they bolster their midfield or not, and has confidence in the options already at manager Ferguson's disposal.

"The players already at the club have got the chance to go on and stake big claims," he added.

"I wouldn't have any worries going with the players already at the club. We have loads of talent who can play there. Ryan Giggs did it brilliantly last season, Darren Fletcher, Tom (Cleverley), Anderson, Michael (Carrick) and Ji-sung Park can play there.

"There are no concerns at all I think we are as good and probably better in that department than we have ever been."
