Yes it is. There'll be dragon & lion dance and celebration on WS and other parts. Fire crackers I recall someone said during that period can find, try ask around.

Dragon dance is a small part of so called celebration. Thais are 1 of most rojak when come to superstitious. They will try to take the opportunity to so called blessed the shops or anything hoping business will prosperous....

May I add that in Thailand you never know who is Chinese or have Chinese blood until CNY or when you visit their home or shop.
And if you scratch the Thai you will find a lots have Chinese blood.
