Cannot say like that leh bro, I'm staying 3 nites there, each nite abt 60++(frm asiarooms), altogether I can save $100 by sharing room which is equivalent to nearly one free bonk leh.

Like that than I dont know how to help you liao...however....what you can do is this......try asking some of the mini-hotels along Le thanh THon...check if they have transit rates for a few hours.....or you can try the few mini-hotels oppostie New world hotel.

Like the man says - the small hotels on Le Than Thon are comfortable enough to stay in - so are the ones on Mac Thi Boui. My experience is that most of the ones under US$30 don't mind visitors. In fact most of them keep the WG ID and are careful about checking with guest before they release it.

However there have been some reports on other forums of police raids recently but I have no details.

I will be dropping in HCM over the new year. Staying in Bong Sen 2 Hotel. Any idea if its ger friendly?

Have a new travel companion but I dun know if he cheong so thinking of going Volcano then Gossip to see if any 'stirring' caused. If major action happens any recommendation for nearby hotels for last minute room bookings?

Btw, any good cafe to lounge in the afternoon to whip up an appetite? Heard so much on cafe888. Anywhere else for alternative place?

If any bros are staying in HCM over the new year, maybe can meet up for special new year celeb?

As for Cafes....there are shit loads.....Sao Cafe at Pham Ngoc Thach is one..otherwise also known as The Meat Market.......Cafe888 have 2 parts....one is the disco and the other is the cafe.....

I doubt if Bong Sen 2 would be GF since it is situated next to several bars and the action would bev too obvious.

Suggest you check the small hotels on Mac Thi Boui.
